anyone?

i plan on going...

I am thinking about it but the information they gave me on it is soo vague.. I wanna know more about the program.

well i dont know about you, but i live in state so im more than willing to miss school for a few days and be at emory.

eh i don't know

I live in South Florida, but it would be kinda cool to visit. I am on Spring Break during the first week of April. The following week I would go to school for a few days then go on vacation once more for my visit to Emory. Emory seems like a great school so I really want to take the time to visit. Then again I have had perfect attendance throughout my high school years, so I dont know If I want to ruin that.

I can't, it's scheduled for the same days as Florida's FBLA conference.

If you are free that weekend, I would definitely take the opportunity to come. I am not exactly sure what it is that goes on during the time, but I am sure that if you are seriously considering Emory, then it can only be beneficial and not a waste of time. One of the main things to consider is that you will meet both fellow accepted students and upperclassmen, so you will already have friends if you decide to attend in the fall. I (stupidly) decided not to go when I received the invitation, and I realized after that I had given up a great opportunity to experience Emory before attending. I am thinking of serving on one of the committees that helps welcome the students to campus this year, so I hope to see some of you there. :)

Do the students sleep in dorms for this program?

yeah i think so. i got an email about hosting students so i assume they will be in the dorms with current freshmen.

I can't believe, EDers don't get to go to this thing

why can't EDers go?

Well if you're Ed..You have to attend Emory. The other applicants are regular decision and they are trying to persuade the Rders to come to Emory (especially minorities).

okay, this is my situation:

I applied at the same time as ED because I applied for Emory Scholars, but I actually applied RD, not ED. The only difference was when my app was due. So I got my decision at the same time I got my Emory Scholars decision (which was the same time ED got their decision)...BUT technically, I'm still RD because I'm not bound to Emory. So....do you think I could call and still go???

I had no idea that those accepted via ED are not invited. It's pretty ridiculous since you can never get enough exposure and it would be nice to, in a sense, "know what you are getting yourself into." betterday55 - Have you attempted to call and ask if you can attend anyway?

cece29203 - I would think that you are still able to attend. It doesn't hurt to ask, so my suggestion would be to go for it.

well it's only for african-american and hispanic/latino students.

To those who were invited to Essence, I encourage you to attend. There's nothing like a warm weekend in Atlanta. We have a lot planned for you. Remember registration will continue tonight from 6-10 eastern time. Hope to get your call this evening! If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

^Hey do you have a copy of the schedule so I can decide whether or not I will attend? I am thinking about it but I can't decide.

Hi, I didn't get an invitation to Essence because I got my acceptance letter in January at the same time ED students got theirs, but I didn't apply ED. I'm a regular decision African-American student, but I got my letter early because I applied Emory Scholars. Can I still attend?????

My name is Alejandra Guevara and I really want to attend but live in Puerto Rico, so there’s no way my parent’s would pay for the trip…I called but there was no answer. Is there any financial aid available for traveling expenses?

pimpollita- i was told that I only have to pay $45 and that covers my travel and living expenses for the program, call and ask if you are eligible
