So is Anyone Actually going to that 'Essence of Emory' thing?

I think imma go because it seem like it would be cool and plus i could meet alot of new people, but if any of yall wanna see me jus add me on facebook
Full Name: Kokayi Postell

I’m going. Look forward to seeing everyone there.

I’m going! I’m so excited :)

do we need to bring sleeping bag?

I’m still in between deciding to go or not. However, I’ve sent my registration and verification, so all I need to send is the money - if I make up my mind.

I mean, is there any current students on here who were minorities, that went to their Essence of Emory and could tell us about the experience?

It’s four days of doing random things on campus, I’d like to know what things we might be doing in order to see if getting behind in school without time to do homework on the weekend is really worth it…

Also, are our parents supposed to come?

Hey.

I got the invite to the Essence of Emory program too and I will be there (can’t wait to meet everyone.) I agree with you guys that the program is rather vague and long (which I personally find to be a good thing) but I signed up super quickly because think about it, what do you have to lose? A weekend in Atlanta with (potentially) great friends and you get to know more about a school that you are considering.

I too would love to know more about the program and what they have planned for us during the extended weekend but I sort of like letting my imagination run wild :)

Waddd up!!! I’m totally going!!! Can’t wait…this’ll definitely make or break my decision to go 2 Emory!!! Hope everyone’s cool…I’m not the type to be down with drama!!! Ruthe out!

im over 800 miles away from ATL and am going to essence of emory.
and yea, i guess the program is to convince us to enroll… by us i mean the minorities…

because im looking at cornell, emory, and johns hopkins right now.

im going to essence can’t wait to see everybody there!

I will be there. It seems like a great program to attend and explore what Emory has to offer. Can’t wait!!

I can’t go. :frowning: I had already planned on going to New York that weekend. I will go to an Open House sometime though.

Hey, guys!

Ignore the cheesy title, but I’ll definitely be at Essence! I agree that the information they gave us was kind of vague, but like other people are saying, what is there to lose? Can’t wait to see everyone there!

Hey guys! I’m volunteering with Essence this year! To clear up the vagueness, do you have any questions about the program that I might be able to answer?

Hey Melanie!

Do you know which dorm we’ll occupy? Also, do you know if we’ll be able to visit any classes while they’re in session?

Overall, I’m somewhat excited about the program! I would be ecstatic if I were certain that I’d definitely be attending Emory (depends on the financial aid package). But I would really love to go there!!!

Students here volunteered to be hosts so the dorm you will be staying in will vary, there is not one specified dorm for Essence.

Yes, Essence does include a class visit. There are a list of classes that you will have the option of attending and you can pick a class perhaps in the area that you want to major in or a random one, whichever you feel like.

We’re so excited for you guys to come!!! We have been working hard to get everything ready for you guys. I went to Essence last year and absolutely loved it, my friends and I still talk about Essence, it’s where I met my roommate! I’ll be actively involved the whole weekend so if you see me, don’t be shy to come up and be like heyyy collegeconfidential!

Hey Melanie!

You just got my hopes up! Haha now I can’t wait  I hope I get to stay in Fevans!!! Haha but I’ll definitely say something if I run into you! Do you know the number of students who will be attending??

We’re having a meeting tonight so I’ll ask how many are registered but I’m guessing around 100 students or so, hopefully more  Pshhh fevans? Maybe I’m a little biased over here in Longstreet but hey fevans is pretty nice.

Longstreet would be my third choice  Haha the only reason I want Fevans is because I heard it was more sociable!!! Hahaha but who knows! A lot can change after the Essence!!!

What’s your second choice out of curiousity?

Well Few and Evans are my first two  Hahaha! I’m not sure if the application process for them are separate but I would love to live in them! Longstreet also seems to be super cool (and new)! I just love the green theme in Fevans!!!
