so is this possible ?

ok.. so can you switch from SEAS to Arts & science- and HOW HARD is this ?
and...do a lot of people do this or am i the only weird one ?

ALSO- Rodman to Echols...how hard is it ?

You can't switch until end of first year i'm pretty sure. You could try calling either the Dean of Eng (Paxton Marshall would be your best bet: ppm5y@virginia.edu) or office of admissions. But I know they don't do mid-year transfers, and they might not let you switch before the year starts. A good chunk of people switch out of the e-school, simply because it's very demanding first year and some people don't want to continue. So it's not wierd to drop then, but it is a tad if you do it now.
Also, I don't think you can switch Rodman to Echols. They're two totally different processes and groups.

You have to wait a year to get the transfer done, but you can take a few college courses to not "waste" a year. I know a few people who have left the E-School and the transistion was okay.

It is seamless to go from Rodman to Echols becuase they are the same thing. I know a few Echols and Rodmans who switched schools and instantly got into the respective honors program.

ditto to Malex. I was a 1/100000000th of a milimeter away from making the switch to CAS like one day before they wouldn't have let me anymore (they start the waitlist). When I was at Rodman/Echols days on the lawn, I discussed the change with the director of the Echols program, and he told me that they pretty much guarantee you will be put into the echols program, unless you fail virtually every class. He did say, however, that you still have to apply and that he cannot say 100% that you would get in, but he winked when said that, so its an unspoken rule of thumb that Rodman transfers get Echols.

Yeah, you can't switch till the end of first year :/, not too good if you really want to transfer, but it helps that you can experience it and see what you think instead of immediately making the move. I'll be sad if I decide to transfer though, cuz I will be behind on the physics/math major. boo

^ haha. Physics/math as well...

but how is it possible to take A&S courses- doesn't the engineering school have courses mapped out and have no room ?

so if you want to transfer, then it is pretty much a year wasted ???

If you are dead set on going to the College before first semester, you can drop Engineering courses and add College course before or during the first week. The mapped out curriculum is more of a guideline than a rule. I took my schedule from Orientation and modified it so much it was not the same. That also led me to take four courses a semester ahead which ultimately allowed me to take a course in the coming fall a year ahead.

which major are you doing uvamalex..
and are you premed ?

I am a third year majoring in Computer Engineering. I am not be Pre-Med, but I have enough friends who are/were Pre-Med to give me a good idea what is required.

Can you switch the other way as well or is that just not possible?

You can go both ways.

i think it is easier to switch from A&S to Eng as you can even switch after each semeser as opposed to onyl switching after one year for A&S
but i m not ssure

No, you have to wait until the end of year to switch into either school.
