So... Let's Talk Trimesters

Hey... I was just wondering if I could get a little feedback how the trimester system is treating y'all at Carleton. It's sort of one of my "cons" for Carleton, but I'm just curious. When I was there, my tour guides were all for it, but I was hoping for some other voices.

Thanks. :)

Don't know if my daughter will ever post here again, but I called her to ask (thanks for the excuse) and she seems fine with trimesters. However, she did have an accelerated block schedule in high school, so trimesters aren't much of a change. Her two complaints are her 8:15/8:30 class every day (French), and that her calendar is different from her friends going to other colleges (later start, later end). She says the workload is manageable, not rushed.

Yeah, my biggest problem with the trimester system is that we didn't get out until mid-June, which made it tougher to find internships/summer jobs. I still managed. I liked having the Thanksgiving break and winter break combined, because it would have been a huge pain to fly home and back for Thanksgiving otherwise. I never felt like we were rushing through the material or that the workload was unmanageable.

One more thing my daughter said - she likes that she takes 9 courses each year - so she can get her distros done quickly and take more courses in her major.
