historian or archivist

I’ve had many dreams of what I want to do when I “grow up” which include:
- Become a medical doctor in the US, then move to Japan and open a clinic for foreigners
- Become a chemical engineer and prove a bunch of people wrong
- Work at the RIKEN Brain Institute in Tokyo
- Work at Dreamworks as an animator (this is a really old one, I’m not sure how I feel about it anymore)
- Publish a novel on the side (I already have a novel-length work, I need to end it though)

But in reality, I’m not sure if I could do any of them.

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a physicist but the lack of money due to near family bankruptcy made me reshuffle my priorities in life.

So it changed to being a trader. It allowed me to pursue research and analytical work thereby giving me personal satisfaction, if my research proved to be correct, I would rake in money as well.

Did contemplate being a lobbyist at some point due to my discontent in the political and philosophical arena. Decided against it though as you can change the world but you can never change people.

So I’m back on track to pursuing my trading aspiration.

I really love to have adventures, so I have a wide range of things I want to do. There’s nothing specifically I have in mind, but I want to be a filmmaker, a novelist, a curator, a vineyard owner in Italy (I’ve always had a fetish for Italian things and people), a founder and principal of an alternative school, a fashion designer, an editor of a magazine, a mom/wife…

It’ll be interesting to find out what I’ll end up doing in the future!

After I hopefully get a degree in computer science, I hope to be a software engineer or work in the IT field in some way. The latest technology has always been an interest of mine. There are so many opportunities and possibilities in the technology field. I feel as though I would never be bored.

I want to do something in the medical field. Perhaps a neonatologist - I love children.

awww, high schoolers, how cute ;D

I want to major in Public Health & then go on to get my MPH with a specialization in Epidemiology and eventually go on to work for either the government or a hospital as an Epidemiologist (for those who don’t know, studying disease, how its transmitted, how to prevent it etc.)

I am on the engineering path right now and feel right at home. I definitely have an artsy side, so I think my ideal job would be a special effects engineer on a movie/TV set. And my current minor in explosives/pyrotechnics would fit that well.

More realistically, any engineering job will do pretty much.

@quidditchcat I have a nearly finished novel as well! I always add to it to relieve stress from classes. I’m not relying on it to ever make me any money though!

I want to be a special operations/paramilitary officer with the United States Army, probably with Joint Special Operations Command or with the Central Intel Agency, or a SWAT officer with the FBI’s Hostage Rescue Team (highest level of SWAT in law enforcement). The work of covert operations, outside the reach of the law, really fascinates me.
I am well on my way, having taken the oath of enlistment, scored perfect on the physical, finished certifications in tactical firearms and Krav Maga, and have been assigned to a reserve unit that specializes in providing intel to JSOC. Currently in the process of getting a top secret clearance.
And I am a senior in high school. The Department of Defense is paying for my college.

Neuroscientist :D

An intellectual. Somebody who produces value in the form of ideas and discussions. I’m 25. I am grown up. I am not an intellectual. It’s pretty sad, actually.

I want to get my masters in Computer Science, eventually end up doing tech work for the National Spelling Bee and as a result get invited to help write dictionaries. But you know, an award-winning novelist would work as well.

I’m normal, I swear :p

@berzelio @quidditchcat

Yay for nearly finished novels! I’m half(ish) done with my fifth, and it’s what I love to do… Haha but I try not to tell adults that it would be my career path of choice. They tend to raise their eyebrows.

I’m not totally sure what other careers I would be suited for. Unless there’s a sudden market for Indiana Jones-esque adventurers to travel the world and solve puzzles… :D

I used to want to become a dancer, but I don’t think that’s going to work out…
I plan on pursuing a career in chemistry, with perhaps a bit of engineering work. Working in a pharmaceutical company seems like a possibility. :)

If you asked me this same question a couple of months back, I would’ve probably answered with a rehearsed and phony “Investment Banker” or better yet “Hedge-fund Manager”. Now though, everything’s up in the air. All I know is that I want to be heavily involved with nonprofits and probably break into the world of law. Who knows, I might even dabble in politics/philosophy. And oh yeah, I want to write some crime novels - you know, Noir stuff. Did I mention I just LOVE Film Noir?

Not sure but I think I’ll take a chance and major in physics before going onto grad school. Hey, maybe I’ll even go to law school.

I was previously in musical theatre for 5 years and seriously thought I’d grow up to be on Broadway one day though :P

Hey, like Steve Perry always said - don’t stop peeing… I mean, believing. Yeah, that. If you put your mind to it, you can go wherever you want. That could be Broadway or in my case, the bathroom.

I want to be a writer and military historian. It’s never going to happen though :/
