<p>Hookem probably forgot that the overall yield of 40-50% INCLUDES the 100% yield of ED in addition to the RD yield. So, the RD yield alone has to be higher than 40-50%, hence why his estimation was a bit off. I’ve seen a lot of people make this mistake on CC with estimating the # of acceptances based on yield %.</p>

<p>The RD yield would have to be lower than 40-50% if it factors in the 100% yield for ED enrollments. If the RD yield was higher, say 60%, then a 100% yield wouldn’t bring it down ;)</p>
<p>Interestingly enough, my GC told me today that the letter Duke sent her said 1150 spots, and not 1200. When you think about it, that 50 spots might lower the number of acceptances by about 100-120 and bring the RD acceptance rate closer to 15 or 16%. We just can’t win!</p>
