so much for the college cost bubble bursting....

Outstanding, @austinmshauri you rock! I like your ending. I’ve inserted mine after 3. Nice verse too, @northwesty

The 1% Blues - by the college confidential community

[Verse 1]
Private college costs are way too high
Housing costs too, I just barely scrape by
And if illegals get deported, you know what they say?
My lawn will just turn from grass into hay

[Chorus]
I got more than most
Living in my shoes
Yet still I have
Those 1% blues.

[Verse 2]
Nice homes, great schools, counselors with clout,
All the advantages my kids can’t do without,
I make a nice salary and try my best
To cover these bills, but that darn Sam takes the rest.

[Chorus]
I got more than most
Living in my shoes
Yet still I have
Those 1% blues.

[Verse 3]
Stock market went down before I could bail
I thought biotech would put kid through Yale
Now plans have to change and kid has to wait
Or heaven forbid attend Ohio State

[Chorus]
I got more than most
Living in my shoes
Yet still I have
Those 1% blues.

[Verse 4]
Kid’s worked day and night on every AP
And then spent the weekends on every EC
Come college app time, kid’s made the top grade
But none of it matters without merit aid

[Chorus]
I got more than most
Living in my shoes
So glad to be rid of
Those 1% blues.

[Verse 5]
When I hit the 1% I thought I was done
But that won’t pay the sticker at Bennington
Nasdaq ain’t giving me no capital gain
My kid will need merit money to go to Tulane

[Chorus]
I got more than most
Living in my shoes
Yet still I have
Those 1% blues.

[Verse 6]
I feel sorta baldly, but this I confess
I envy the poor and all they possess
Fee waivers, and grants, and free travel and such,
Things my kids can’t get 'cause I earn far too much.

[Chorus]
I got more than most
Living in my shoes
Yet still I have
Those 1% blues.

[Verse 7]
Kiddo’s okay; got into some very good schools,
And I’ve finally internalized CC’s major rules,
Love the kid on the couch, don’t let your views become slanted,
And encourage your kiddos to bloom where they’re planted.

[Chorus]
I got more than most
Living in my shoes
So glad to be rid of
Those 1% blues.
