Ive decided to go to my state school to save money. Problem is, they only gave me $1,000 in grants, $5,000 in loans and the tuition is $18,000. I filled out the FAFSA with my parents last year pay, however im 100% sure that its decreased this year. My EFC was supposed to be 4,134.

I'm in the process of applying for schloarships however to be frank, my GPA and test scores probably aren't gonna get me anywhere.

I desperately need more money and want to appeal somehow.

What should I do?

First off, a decrease in pay this year doesn’t mean anything for FAFSA for the coming year. The FAFSA is based on income from the previous year. In other words: 2008 Income taxes filed by 4/15/09 contain the financial information for your FAFSA for the Fall 09/Spring 10 school year.

My parents have yet to file their 2008 taxes. I was using their old 2007 ones to fill out the fafsa and im 100% sure that the pay was lower last year. (and this year)

they should do their taxes ASAP and then you can update the fafsa and then perhaps your FA package will change
