So my proctor didn't give us a break

between the science and writing portion. His excuse? "If we skip the break, we get to leave early guys!"

And because I was testing alongside 10 slacker kids whose post-secondary education will probably never amount to anything more than two years (if they're lucky) at a community college, everyone was totally fine with it.

I had planned to use that short break to clear my head and re-outline the rough structure I was going to follow for the essay. Instead, I had to abruptly transition from processing information about tesla coils and ***** to whether implementing school rules on students outside of school was a good idea (what an awful prompt).

Pretty big tool.

If you think you did badly, you should complain. Stuff like that isn’t fair, and I would be ****ed if that happened to me.

We didn’t get a break either lol

me neither.

We got a 30 second break. Our proctor read aloud, “I am now to give you a 30 second break.” 30 seconds gets you nowhere really.

My D said her proctor didn’t give them a break then either. There were 3 different classrooms being used for testing, with 3 different proctors, and the others gave breaks. D didn’t care - she was just as happy to get out of there sooner, but I can see how it would be annoying if you wanted/needed the break. Is there some specified break they’re supposed to give you?

Hence why you speak up and ask/demand a break. Proctors are people too, if no one wants a break, then why would they give one? Likewise, if a kid asks for a break (when ACT has a scheduled one), then they’ll let you have one. It’s not like they’re a bunch of malevolent dictators that want you to do as poorly as possible.

No, I pretty clearly said “I want a break” and he ignored it, going by majority rule.

No one had a worse proctor than me. She was so dumb and told us we could go back to the sections later if we didn’t finish them within the time frame. She could barely read the directions without mixing up words. If ACT saw what occurred in that room they would have cancelled all of our scores.

^that’s an amazing proctor.
