who are people in engineering so nerdy? i see so many pencil necked geeks in all of my classes.

is there any explanation to this phenomenon?

cause they actually enjoy math.
just kidding! I really don't know.

I'm assuming you are EE/CPE/CS.

ee

......

Yeah. That must suck. ME representing...

Yo all us CS aint pencil necked.....in fact I havent really seen that many like taht in my CSE class...

You talk about it like it's a bad thing :p

the MEs I know aren't any better, they just do worse in class

im EE and a girl, and i agree haha about half are gross and of the half left, half are really decent guys (nice and good looking) and the other quarter are really neat guys, but somewhat lacking in the looks dept...
good thing im a good lookin chick, it balances a lot out =P

cuz geeks tend to be interested in math and computer type stuff, so that explains the link to engineering. and they dont get out much cuz they have no social skills, so they just sit around and indulge in their geeky activities and they couldnt care for exercise so thats why i think they have pencil necks.

Why does it even bother you?

Does benching 200 make you a better engineer?

I think you know what's required. PM me! lol. :P

My CS class in highschool fits this description. They are hardcore into japanese stuff like anime and stuff. They aren't especially smart either so they aren't exactly the sterotypical type of geeks. I'm just afraid that if i go to school for CS i will meet no girls and once i say im in CS that people will think im a douche.

Perhaps it's not the major then...

At my school the makeup of a Civil/ME/Aero is much different from CS/CPE/EE.

dude. if u dont meet girls, its not going to be because ur a CS major. its just gonna be you. no offense. but you cant blame your major. you could be in practically any major and meet girls. it just depends on you as an individual.

and i know what u mean about the anime type kids not being so smart. ppl think they're "geeks" but they're not even that smart. they're just weird. (just a random thing that i noticed throughout the years.)

That's right Cronus88.

Intelligent people can handle both academics and different social aspects greatly. People who aren't actually smart but do things that are mentally taxing usually develop disorders that affect their performance in different social aspects; in other words, their mind can't handle a life that is both academic and social quite well and performance in either academics or social aspects taxes performance on the other part.

If you have good social skills being an engineering major will actually help you with girls. Just promote your personality over intelligence and they will like it when they learn you're smart too.

Im concerned that classes are going to be 99% male.

Classes will not be 99% male.
Engineers do not intrinsicly have a problem with being social. Although Engineering does tend to attract people who do.
There are no mental disorders developed as a result of doing something "mentally taxing."
