so nerdy

Someone is a little conceited.

being the only girl in an engineering class does not make you a pretty girl

my EE classes have about 5-10% females.

my entire engineering school has 15% female grad + undergrad

Hahah ok sorry about that last post, it was a joke =P You guys were bashing girls, so I figured I'd chime in back.
EE/ECE is probably 5% girls here, overall the school is around 20%.
I just thought of this though: EE is one of the most popular majors, besides ME. Yet, it has the least number of girls (which seems common across all schools). Kinda odd eh? ME, ChemE, or CivE are the more popular majors amongst the girls here.

Alright, I gotta represent. There really are girls in engineering. I am going into CS/CompE... (I'm actually the only girl in CS at my school, but I'm sure this will change in college)
and geeks are not completely socially inept: probably half of the really hard-core nerds in my CS class have girlfriends... (incidentally, the two really serious relationships that come to mind are with really literary girls)

okay, that's all...

No. You weren't. You still need to post a picture of yourself to confirm or deny the validity of your assertion.

I 2nd to that

No one likes arrogant girls.

lol.............

engineerings and especially CS folks tend to be very eccentric, so this is a great explanation. The average engineering student is very weak and usually rather slim or small. I am on the other hand 6'4" and 345 lbs and bench press 450lbs and play college football and I am a CSE major. so we come on all shaped and sizes.

at my school the actual best looking girls in the school are all ChemE.

well almost everyone must look small to you.

I am an anime-watching Magic-playing engineer, so I am really getting a kick out of these replies...

What's with all this negative stereotypes floating around this thread? I have to ask, how old are you guys? I understand the need for acceptance; to feel "cool" or "superior", but aren't ya'll acting a bit like high schoolers? That's all I'm seeing here: people putting other people down to make themselves look/feel better.

I just don't like being falsely stereotyped. That is all.

There are actually quite a few girls, maybe around 25%-30% in my lower-division mechanical engineering classes but oddly enough the percentage feels much lower, maybe 5%-10% in my upper-division ones. Many of the girls in my lower division classes complain a lot about the workload this semester and seemed utterly distressed by their first 7 hour long problem-set. It doesn’t seem like the guys complain nearly as much. This is just my humble observation.

No one cares about your bench press. Tell us how much you squat and DL. I hope they are at least 650 each.

I know quite alot of CS majors that aren't your stereotypical "nerd".

I'm also a girl going into CS, btw. Any advise from the girls or guys?

At my school many girls in lower level ME classes are actually Civil Engineering.
