So nervous about this school...

So, before the last 2 weeks or so, I was fairly confident in my chances at getting into this college. I have gotten 4 B+'s in my highschool career with the rest of my grades being at least A-'s: 4.3 weighted GPA before senior year. I have taken all honor's and AP classes since I started 9th grade, and I got a 4 on the AP Euro test in 9th grade and a 5 on the AP English Lang test junior year.I got a 2270 on my SAT (1540/1600) in one sitting and a 32 on my ACT. I participated pretty well in highschool- varsity athlete, president of 2 clubs, founder of 2 separate clubs, etc. However, I got rejected from UNC, Colorado College (lolwut? ikr it was idiotic...), Pitzer (once again, are you serious?), and Claremont McKenna. I have been waitlisted at UVA, and I got accepted at University of Denver and Villanova. Anyways, my morale has been pretty low over the past week, and I am freaking out about the prospect of getting denied/waitlisted at Vandy. Based on their college profile, I should be a shoe in, but I am literally going to rip my hair out waiting for their stupid snail mail letter to come. Do I fit the profile of a Vandy candidate? fingers crossed xD.

I can’t tell you if you fit the profile of a Vandy candidate, but I can tell you you sound very similar to myself. Thought I had all the grades and stats for my schools, and that Vandy was a slight reach, but I’ve received tons of waitlist letters these past few days. My morale is down the drain. Praying for an acceptance to Vandy, it is the ONLY school I want to attend. Best of luck to you, friend.

you too man; I’ll see you at accepted students night I hope.

It’s pretty damn hard to be a “shoe in” at any top 20 school. A 32/2270 is basically an average score.

Good luck though. Surprising rejections considering those stats.

I’m terrified. Never made below a 95 in my life, but only a 2190 SAT. And 800 of that is writing.

While the profile you’ve given is quite impressive, it does not by any means qualify you as a shoo-in for Vandy. Is it similar to the profiles of a very large portion of Vanderbilt students? Yes. I’d say, however, that it’s in fact almost exactly middle of the pack - and every year Vanderbilt gets harder to be accepted to. My point is that there massive amounts of Vanderbilt applicants who, like you, fit the profile of a Vanderbilt student, whose profiles are practically identical to yours, and are still denied. False confidence is not, I believe, the way to go.

Third year student here. Your numbers are there for sure. I know for a fact that Vandy accepts students with lower numbers than yours, but I’ve also seen them reject people with higher numbers. It really depends on how your essays and rec’s were. It’s been said before, but at schools like Vandy, you’re very rarely guaranteed a spot in the incoming class.
