SO NERVOUS- Can ruin my college chances

I only took two years of language so far due to ranking purposes. In substitution for language, I got to take another weighted class.

I was going to take the 3rd year of language at the local community college but they canceled the class... So I'm stuck. I talked to the admissions counselor of the college I'm trying to pursue but they said to take the SAT Chinese to show mastery in a language.

I'm Chinese but I was born in America. I can pass the listening and pinying part with flying colors, but I can't read chinese....

I'm debating if I should learn as much Chinese as I can over summer before the November test (gives me 5 months) or if I should just take the 3rd year of language at my school and have my GPA lowered and possibly disqualify me for the running for valed. or saled and rank does matter on college admissions!

Please help!

Rank does not matter on college admissions much. By much I mean that if you are #8-10 instead of #1-3, your chances won’t actually be impacted much at all in most cases, because colleges tend to do holistic evaluations of candidates.

But still it has a lot of symbolic value that I’m sure you don’t want to just give up, right?

So try both if possible. You can prep for the test while keeping your language thing as a second semester course that you’ll only actually take if required. But I can see that high school schedules may not actually be that flexible…

Okay, thanks! I’ll just stick to Chinese then
