So...no merit aid?

Just to confirm: Got my acceptance letter in the mail today, no mention of merit aid. Heard it was based off of standardized test scores, but I guess GPA is also a factor? So I guess this means no merit aid for me?

2120 SAT
88 WGPA w/ 10 AP's

If it is not mentioned in the letter, then you are correct that you did not receive any. It is primarily based on test scores and GPA.

I monitored the live chat with Tulane Pres. There was a question question like yours posed. I cant remember the exact answer he gave but I think the gist was to wait a couple of weeks than inquire with admissions. I wasnt paying close attention. Was really just waiting to see if anyone asked about the CSS scholarship notifications. (they didnt, and I got distracted and then it was over.) Anyway, I think the idea is they may have more money to give if students who were awarded money dont attend. It wont hurt to try.

not necessarily, but usually the case. I did hear of someone who didn’t receive the aid first off, but it was added upon further consideration after inquiry.

Oh, there are a number of cases like that, and malaml is right it cannot hurt to ask. Bbut don’t count on anything, it is still a bit of a long shot.

My best friend didn’t get anything when he got accepted, but he checked online the other day and it said they had offered him some money. He was shocked, so he called Tulane and asked if it were legit, and sure enough it was…

His situation is insanely rare, though. I almost didn’t post in this thread because of false hope or anything… but it has happened.

I have the transcript of the live chat with Presisent Cowen last night and this is what he said about merit money:

Q: My daughter is very interested in Tulane. Is there any money left for Merit-Based Scholarships?
Scott Cowen: At this point, we are not reconsidering students for additional merit, but perhaps in the next couple of weeks, we will re-visit students who contact us to determine additional eligibility for merit aid. You should reach out to your admission counselor for more information. You should also apply for need-based aid to supplement any merit award you may have received.

Wow. It was great you could find that.( I looked for it before posting above, but it was gone.) I anticipate we will be giving up our spot and our merit award so hopefully they will give it to someone else (the $. The spot will of course be given.) We are just waiting on the CSS results.

How exactly would I go about inquiring about possible ‘leftovers’?

I talked to Mollie Montelaro about scholarship re-review and I was told the same thing that the director stated. I feel like they wouldn’t offer any scholarships until after May 1…when it would be too late.

Actually nevermind, Financial Aid decisions were just posted onto Gibson today and I was awarded the Founder’s Scholarship (80k total)

congrats, smoothieking.
