The interview is just to make sure you aren’t insane… haha

But regardless, good luck everyone!

But regardless, good luck everyone!

Uh not quite.
The super quiet nerd at my school turned into a crazy party girl when she went to Rice :P

I applied to Rice RD. I’m from London (but a U.S. citizen, born in Houston). I had a really good interview with a cool alum. Its still scary waiting till like April though. It just takes soooo long!!

So it’s harder to get in if your from Texas, and the kid from Hawaii gets a boost. Where would Mississippi fall into all this? I’ve heard it can help a little at top schools, but Rice is a lot closer to Mississippi than IvyStanMIT, so they probably get a fair number of applicants from MS right?

I wonder if being from Georgia helps

finally sent it in a couple minutes ago…hopefully being from florida will help!

Ah… Finally, the supp’s done!

Now, for the waiting :S I would love to attend Rice!

I wonder if being from Norway will help :P

Procrastination! Not the best time…

Does being Chinese-Canadian help? :D

Btw, I submitted my application at like 12:03am last night - will they still see it??

done everything but interview…

ts hard for “texas” kids because Rice wants diversity and better recognition (many still don’t know where Rice is :P)

I think the hardest region is Houston. Even though they say they admit 25% solely from Houston, a ton are applying so…

yeah. >.>

Rice has denied overqualified applicants from Texas for mediocre applicants from out of state before.
It’ll happen again.

I am from PA and I just mapquested it…24 hour drive baby! However when I checked the stats it says that only 10 people were accepted from PA. I hope it is due to a lack of applicant from the sate, but I’m pretty sure hundreds apply from PA. Also I guess having a Sri Lankan heritage helps. For those of you that do not where Sri Lanka is, it is a small tropical island just south of India. All in all I really hope to be attending Rice in the fall.

Bonuses from being in Houston-
Easy to visit Rice
Easy to get to interview
Tons of alumni for when the on campus interview was full (my case)

Cons-
Drops chances…a lot :(

Especially being a white male…I ran into a friend of mine applying to Rice at the post office today when i went to turn stuff in.

seriously right!?
I wished I lived in AZ or CO :P

or Oregon lol
and uh does anyone have a clue when i have to send my Test scores in?

But if you lived there are you sure you would still hold Rice in such high esteem? I mean, how much would you really know about it. That’s why students who do apply from those places have a tiny edge. They’re in the minority for recognizing Rice’s prestige.

I’m from Colorado ;)

Since applications are over, what did you put for your signature page? o_o
this is mine. http://i26.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/albums/c150/lxDynastyzxl/DSC00169.jpg
Each thing represents something from my essays :D

It said to fill the box with something that appealed to me, so i put a picture of a Waffle House. You northerners that have never seen a waffle house haven’t lived. If I meet any of you on campus, we’ll find one and I’ll buy you a bacon texas cheesesteak with smothered hashbrowns.

I shrunk it, cut it out and pasted it on the page…it really looks like he was coming from behind the box ^-^
