I send in a few extra goodies and hope for the best when April (?) rolls around?
What a terrible deal. From what I've observed, my application is strictly average, so I have no idea whether I'll get accepted or not RD.

Anyone else have thoughts on their deferral? To sum mine up: It kinda sucks. I have to wait, wait, and wait in purgatory until I get my up or down answer.

Yes, definitely send in supplementary materials, such as additional letters of recommendation if they add a different perspective from the ones you’ve already submitted, or updates on your science/math activities. Also, it seems that at least in the past three years Caltech’s decisions have come out by March 15, so you won’t have to wait quite that long.
