So once I submit my commonapp to one school, I can't change...

I can't change or update my commonapp information (like my essays, for example) for the schools I'm applying to with a later deadline?

Here is the quote from commonapp.com:

"Please note that once submitted to any institution, this version of your Common Application can no longer be edited or changed. Use the print preview functionality prior to submitting to ensure that all your information has been entered correctly."

bumppppppppppp

dont worry, as long as you dont submit the common app to the specific schools, youll be able to edit it for those schools
go to https://app.commonapp.org/application/applicantlogin.aspx?allowcopy=true

I'm not sure, but I assume if it SAYS it can't be changed, then it can't be changed. If you had a drastic problem though, you might be able to email the updated version to the school.

Well I don't really have a problem...

But Lafayette College is my only school with a 1/1 deadline. My other colleges have 1/15 or later.

I'm just wanting to know whether I can (with certainty) be able to submit my commonapp to lafayette tonight, and then make a few adjustments on my my main essay and submit my updated commonapp to my other colleges with the 1/15 deadline.

I read somewhere that you can change your main commonapp ten times. Is that really true?

You can create an alternate version of your application so that you can make adjustments after you submit to Lafayette. Instructions are in the 'applicant support center'. Here is what it says:

Before you create alternate versions of your application, please read and understand the following important information:

**Once the original version of the application is submitted, it is electronically sealed. Although a student may submit to other colleges using this application version, it cannot be edited.

*If you have any questions, please ask technical support *before submitting your supplement.

You can create an alternate version of your application by following the steps below.

Step1: You must submit the Common Application to at least one institution. When this is complete, you must log out of your account.

Step 2: You must then click on the following weblink: https://app.commonapp.org/Application/ApplicantLogin.aspx?allowcopy=true You will be presented with a login screen to the Common Application. You must then enter your existing Username and Password and click Login.

Step 3: You will be presented with a screen titled ‘Application Versions,’ where you will see information about the application that you’ve already submitted. You may then click on the ‘Replicate’ link to create an alternate version of your submitted application. When this is complete, a second version will be visible on this screen. A special drop down will appear in the upper right corner of the application to allow quick access to all your applications.

Step 4: You may edit the alternate version to allow for college-specific information.

wow, ok, great

thanks
