So people with no results = not accepted?

topic... 10 chars

Looks like.
Couple of guys called in today and were told that letters have been sent on 26th and that online update will be available on 30th.

who knows it may be accept/waitlist/rejected?

Can anybody throw some light on this?

i called them up and they said decisions are released in 2 waves. they said it doesn't mean anything whether you got your decision early this morning or not.

How do you check your response if you are international? I did not get an e-mail or anything.

No, it doesn't mean that.

i looked back at the last year, and like this year, they do not admit it, since that would be a pretty horrible practice. They say they just randomly do bunches.

But looking at the patterns, almost all of the "first bunch" are acceptances, in fact i've seen no rejections (some are waitlisted in one school but accepted in another). Everything after that is rejection/waitlist, besides a few accidental late acceptances.

nice. -_-

Yeah, If you look for the thread of replies for the class of 2011, it seems like Communist Hunter is correct. I think that's a horrible practice and I care a little less now that I'm probably rejected. Seriously, what arseholes. It's cool how they deny the practice too.

But, who knows? There's still hope, I guess. Whatever.

Yeah, it looks like NYU is doing the same thing. Sent postcards to admitted students over a 2-week period. and nothing for waitlist/denies. Really s**ks.

does CMU practice yield protection?

I hope the admissions officers at CMU choke on their damn money.

How is it CMU's fault if you don't get accepted?

It's their fault that their decisions "process" (if it can even be called that) is so convoluted and idiotic. I had heard that CMU has horrible management. I now know that it's true.

If I got rejected, alright - at least tell me when you're supposed to, instead of separating the decision dates based on the decision. (and then trying to hide the fact that you do it.) Let's not forget this blank line nonsense as well.

By the way, you wouldn't happen to be Mike Mu, would you?

I don't think most people read into decisions and organize themselves and come up with conspiracies. Just wait and see, and relax. Have fun. You'll get your decision sooner or later.

I think that they like to mess around with kids who are frequently on college forums. Give out a bunch of acceptances first wave but not all. All other waves random. That way you can cause a panic on the internet like no other. Angsty teens+extended waiting=fun to watch.

This is just as likely as what you believe...Forum frequenters tend to be a bit more highly qualified than the normal applicant. There is also the chance that they lie.

The admissions officer addressed this already, although I have serious trouble
believing it's sheer coincidence that all the acceptances come out the day
before all of the rejections.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/carnegie-mellon-university/45443-welcome-college-rep-carnegie-mellon-admission-2.html

I really doubt that CMU is lying. It's probably just that the first round is all acceptances, and the rest are random.

does it really matter that much to u guys if u get ur letter today, tommorow, the day after, etc... This will NOT change the fact that u were rejected/accepted.
After all, it's really getting annoying to see so many posts where people are wining about how unfair this process is... and i think it's best that those who were accepted get notified first - it just leaves them more time to elaborate on school options.

well said.

I agree with everything but the last part. I think that sending notifications at different times isn't the best way to do it because of the extra anxiety it creates for students who don't get notifications first. The system should give people their results as quickly and painlessly as possible, without letting them second guess themselves.

I think that phased notifications are about as bad as likely letters, since they both add unnecessary doubt and uncertainty to the process.

i just got accepted to CIT about ten minutes ago- that is, it showed up on my page then. i did not recieve a phone call, an 'in magazine', or have a blank on my page before i found out, just so you know. just try and be patient - i know how hard that is (i was up till one last night checking the boards) - but that's the best thing now.

Congrats. Give those of us who are waiting some hope! So I guess they are posting more decisions tonite. Would you mind sharing your stats?
