So scared majoring in fashion design!!

Hi im applying to vcuarts, risd, parsons, fit, and ??
my gpa is 2.76
sat combined 1380
I got denied from vcu and that was my back up school, I'm not very good at art but its almost the end of senior year and I need more places to apply. I've never been trained in art only fashion design so its hard for me to apply places that require fine arts. Plus Im not rich so I would need scholarships, Help please!

May I suggest an appointment w/your HS guidance counselor? Also you might inquire with VCU to see what areas they considered you lacking – in order to assess if Fashion Design, indeed, should be an area of study you should even be pursuing.

One note of caution: there exist many for-profit design schools that would readily accept you and the many loans they’d have you sign up for. They have flashy ads during daytime TV and promise exciting careers in fashion and design. All the while, they cash your tuition check and may or may not have any success educating you in design. Remember, you apply for 1000s of dollars in loans, hand it over to them, and they more or less educate you. Whether you graduate or not isn’t high on their agenda. Whether you actually will get a job in design or not isn’t high on their agenda either. All the while, you have a huge loan to pay back. Don’t go down this route no matter WHAT their representatives tell you. They are paid to enroll students and get their tuition – not to educate or graduate them. Want to confirm this? Ask anyone who actually is in the industry what they feel about graduates or applicants from those schools. You’ll get an ear full.
