Now what I want to know is if it's worth sending the Oct SAT scores in to schools that superscore just because if I superscore my result becomes a 2250 instead of composite 2230.

Would I just be digging my own grave by sending the Oct scores as well (since CR and M are so pathetically less)??
Is it better to go with a single 2230 rather than the combined 2250?
Advice? :)
I'm sending them soon.

I personally would not send the first score. All your scores on your second sitting are above 700 and a 2230 is good. In my opinion, the 640CR might be looked down upon, same with the 690Math.

I am in a similar situation. I have just taken the test a fourth time and have already sent in my last three scores to all my schools. My highest before was 750CR, 750M, 800W. Should I send in the 800CR, 800M, 740W I just got on the Dec test to all schools OR would it look back since I have taken it 4 times?

Sorry, I didn’t notice the word superscore. And, yes. For a school like dear Harvard, you solely send December’s. But Harvard is merciful. And it will pick the best SECTION, not the best SAT exam.

caraguay, I suggest you send the last one too? Since that brings you up to a superscore of 2400 which is something not many have! Your case is different from mine. My Oct testing was in plain words, yucky. While your scores are pretty commendable in both cases. And thank you for the suggestion; I am leaning towards that option myself. I’ve already sent both to Pomona (which requires all anyway so chuck it) but I’ll be careful for the rest.

Mirinda: Yes only December is a better option right? I expect it would be safer to send only the single testing. I doubt a 20 point increase is going to affect my application in any way and if the adcoms catch sight of those scores they’d probably have second thoughts! Err, I am right, right?

Well, thank you both! I think the decision’s been made. Cheers! :)

yay… thanks for the suggestion perfectpixie… i think im going to send my dec score to all my colleges even if i risk looking kind of desperate sending a 4th score.

I’m glad you’re leaning towards only sending your December score. I truly believe that the 600s will hurt you more than the 20 point composite score increase. The difference between a 650 and 750 is much much larger than the difference between 2230 and 2250 in terms of percentile points.

Goodie! Very few people get a 2400, so it should make you stand out. :)

I have heard though that a significant increase is looked at favourably as it is taken to be a sign that the applicant can improve with hard work in time (not that I worked hard at all; I just sat with the BB a week before saturday;)). I’m confused, but I’m saving my neck and sending Dec. only

Your increase could be looked at as a product of YOUR determination and hardwork. However, it could also be viewed as a result of “intensive test preparation” that was not necessarily of your choosing (e.g. parents enrolling kids in SAT prep classes).

According to Harvard’s website:
“Standardized tests are only one factor among many in Harvard’s holistic admissions process. The Committee on Admissions has always taken into account the fact that test scores can be affected by such factors as schooling, intensive test preparation and socio-economic background”.

A 2230 is sufficient for most, if not all, Ivy League schools and Harvard. What matters the most now are your essays and recs (although by now you have little to no control over the latter).

I was wondering the same thing, except my score went down from November. I had:
730 CR
730 Math
770 Writing
2230 Total

On the December test, I had:
720 CR
750 Math
710 Writing
2180 Total

Superscored, I would have 2250 too but I didn’t know if the sharp drop in the writing score would be a source of concern for colleges.

If your colleges truly look at the best scores, you could send both. But I think you made the right decision to just send the December scores. I’m still in a predicament as to whether I should send my December scores.
