I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty nervous about this whole thing. What ever happens (since they don't LSP my major, I'm either in or out) I want to be prepared emotionally. I've heard at least 10 different responses when I have asked people on here and the five other people at my school EDing to NYU when the letter should come. So now I'm looking for a definitive answer. I know the whole reasoning behind NYU's claim the letters should come by "mid december", I'm not looking for someone to educate me. I just want to know if it should be there by wed/thurs. If it's not there by then, that's OK. But if it is and I'm not ready for it......well that's why I'm writing this post.

If this sounds like it was a completely random act of anxiety, you're pretty much right. Let's just say I really want to get this over with.

Same here sagecoll. They said they'll mail them out on weds/thurs so hopefully they get to us by sat at the very least.

In any event though, I'm pretty sure we'll get out NYU decisions before our Emerson decisions, cause one of the admissions counselors told me that they're mailing those out on the 15th.

^^ That's true bimachris, my friend applied to Emerson last year and she didn't find out till maybe the 17th so they probably send those out on the 15th. I'm hoping to hear from NYU Friday or Saturday, but I can always wait till Monday. Anything after that and I'll freak out lol.

I think this forum is gonna start getting really busy this week. Glad I found this place, I would not be able to do this alone. Here's to freaking out!

What I've heard is that they're mailing them out the week of the 8th, probably the 11th/12th. NYU mail usually takes about 4 days to come, so the 15th-17th are reasonable.
If you don't receive anything by the 18th, you can call them and find out.

I really wish NYU just posted their decisions online like other colleges. I don't think I can wait a whole 10 days. :

Well, I remember when I read through the NYU '12 ED thread that notification letters began showing up as early as the 7th or 8th, but I think those were international students. But then around 10th and 11th more began showing up. So, I don't think we can rule out the possibility that they could come sooner than expected.

To my knowledge, they mail them out Monday [the 8th] and notify internationals around the same time. They say the 15th because if they were to actually mail them around the 12th many would not get their letter by the 15th so admissions would be inundated with phone calls. I would imagine they would mail them tomorrow because it takes about a week NYC to CA for normal mail. It takes it about 2-3 days to get to Boston, so I am hoping to find out as early as the 10-11th!! Moreover, someone on the ED 2013 FB group's counselor called NYU and they said the last day they made decisions was on Friday.

Well I hope they do actually start mailing the 8th, the sooner we find out the better. : ) The only reason I'm skeptical is because last year most people found out between 15-18, and that just seems so far away. :

^ I feel like they might be doing them a little earlier this year. NYU's website says most decisions won't be mailed until the end of this week, but on the other hand, all admissions decisions have been made (scary, huh?) so I guess technically they could start sending them tomorrow.

I was looking at the message boards too and I saw that they have 2 rounds of lsp decisions. They've already sent out one round and they were planning on sending the 2nd round out later last week. Then this week they plan on sending out the rest of the decisions.
