please add things.

I'll start with: Iron/ Ironing Board

Batteries, mostly AA and AAA

bed linens/blankets
pillows
flip flops
shower caddy
blank cds/dvds (r-s or rw-s)
backpack (duh)
digital camera

Theres this huge 14 page sticky,

it may be able to assit you in your questions.

Quarters for laundry, as well as detergent.

YES QUARTERS ARE LIKE GOLD. but seriously, don't forget extension cords, 3m sticky hooks, a jump drive, [if you're bring a printer] extra ink cartridges, a clip on lamp to have on your headboard, legal envelopes, stamps, scissors, scotch tape*, and paper towels. Those are all things I found hugely useful, and the ones with stars are the ones I personally initially forgot.

bring quarters if your school's ID card doesnt also act as cash... i use that to pay for laundry.

find out if your floors are wood/tile or carpeted. you might want a little area rug to place next to your bed if it's the former, but it's helpful to know how to clean things. my room would get messy with hair (two girls doing hair every day = mess) and little scraps of paper and dust and stuff, so first year we had wood floor and would swiffer... second year was carpeting, so we had to vacuum.

other things i found really handy: lots of disposable cutlery-- paper/plastic plates, tupperware, plastic utensils, solo cups, etc.

EXTRA LAMPS. i've found that dorm rooms do not have the best overhead lighting. i had a desk lamp, a regular table lamp on a nightstand, and my roommate and i had some crazy shaped lamp. they're great to switch the lighting in the room, and if you still need light but your roommate wants to sleep.

i don't know if buying a stereo is worthwhile, but getting good speakers for your laptop really could be.

naturally, your favorite school supplies: i like index cards, so i always have them in different sizes, i always have a lot of pens and mechanical pencils, highlighters, calculators, etc.

you guys need to pay to do your laundry?

my school its 100% free.

almost every damn school in america makes you pay for the laundry...dont act so shocked.

I'll personally need an external hard drive to accomodate all the crap I'll be downloading on the campus's T3 lines.

Dont forget laptop chargers!

...
jp :-p

LAUNDRY stuff is very crucial.

Alarm clock

Phone charger

First-aid kit (w/band-aids, OTC meds, anti-itch cream, digital thermometer, throat lozenges, Neosporin, etc.)

Flashdrive!!!

a bike of coursE! especially if you have a large campus!!

2 year old thread, people. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah
