are u guys sure the CR has the biggest curve? I mean, 2/48 wrong is a raw score of 46, which, according to the PSAT practice thingy, should be a 75.

Why is the PSAT curve harder than the SAT curve?

Because if your PSAT score looks low on paper you'll be more likely to "invest" in SAT prep. It's all a scam.

There's less questions, and it's generally easier than the SAT so they make up for it by having a harsher curve.

I think dukeo is correct, there are fewer questions on PSAT than SAT thus CB compensates by creating a harsher curve... standardized testing is pretty much the second worst thing ever invented (class rank would be first)

My highly verbal son skipped 6 on the math. I had to break it to him that most likely he would not be a NMSF. He can't understand the idea of how you are more screwed if you are math challenged rather than being verbally challenged.

lol, you should tell him that skipping 6 on the reading sux almost as much. Very simply put, there are more CR questions than Math, so 1 wrong/skipped on Math is worse than 1 wrong/skipped on CR.

You people in the crazy states don't like your high cutoffs, but we're glad we don't have to compete with you. :)

I omitted one on math, and I probably missed 2 or 3. EEK! I probably missed a couple on CR too, but I totally rocked the writing section. I checked my work and still finished 10 minutes early.

wow psat is definetly harder.

in my opinion.
which doesn't count for much.

the curves in the psat practice booklets say they apply to the practice book ONLY. we won't know the actual curves for this year until they come out, but math and writing are going to be steep this year. wouldn't be surprised if they took away the gimme in cr either since it was less difficult... (gimme refers to how you could miss one and still get an 80 last year).. we'll see in december

Wow. I'm screwed.
=[
I missed one on math.
ah.
