Hey everyone,
Now I'm just wondering but if Yale sends you a letter saying that they think your a strong candidate for admission, what does it really mean?

Like how many of these do they send out? are they just trying to sizeable number of applicants for next year?

To judge whether the letter is a mass thing like debate_addict says you need to consider how personal the letter is. Is it signed by hand? Apart from your name, does it mention anything else that is unique about you? For instance, does it say something like "We think you're a strong candidate because we spoke with your couselor Ms/Mr Whatever and he/she recoomended you"

I'm not aware of any individualized letters they send to prospective applicants whatsoever. Most likely, some metrics you possess have "alerted" their marketing criteria. I'm sure your mail carrier will be delivering MANY unsolicited college literature this upcoming year.

Regardless, congratulations on whatever your achievement has been. Yale just wants you to take a look at them.

Best of luck to you on your college search and app process

Edit: their coaching staff probably has more individualized recruiting efforts ---

my son rec'vd a letter like this last year around this time from Harvard and Brown. I believe you have met some kind of min. standard so far and if the trend continues they would like for you to consider them when you apply. Best of luck!

p.s. my son applied to both Harvard and Brown and was accepted to both. He's going to Harvard in the fall
