So today I found out...

That I've been nominated for the U.S Presidential Scholar's Program by my school's department of ed. Can I mention this on my common app? :D

Maybe you should read about how they select the U.S. Presidential Scholar’s Program and realize that your school can’t nominate you…

Plus, your ACT is not nearly high enough to get you considered.

Just a suggestion though.

Nevermind. The above applies.

Wow harsh. Rude. And then why is it that I was called down by my guidance counselor today and other students in the past have been nominated the same way? Each school is asked to nominate two students. Maybe YOU should do YOUR research.

and next time dont make a tease and put your subject in the title as a consideration

music, please read #1 in the following:

[Frequently Asked Questions – U.S. Presidential Scholars Program](<a href=“Frequently Asked Questions -- U.S. Presidential Scholars Program”>Frequently Asked Questions -- U.S. Presidential Scholars Program)

and this:

[U.S</a>. Presidential Scholars Program Selection Process](U.S. Presidential Scholars Program Selection Process)

SAT (M + CR) and ACT scores that qualify are close to, if not, 1600/36.

Maybe you’re being nominated for something else? Were you given any paperwork? If so, can you take a pic and create a link for it (take out personal info like your name).

An ACT 30 would not be considered for the US Presidential Scholars program.

Guys, I’m not saying that I would get it at all. I KNOW. I’m just asking if I can write on my app that my school recommended me. That’s all.

What we’re telling you is that there is no way that you have qualified for the US Presidential Scholars Program linked to above, for several reasons:

Selection method, not done by schools.

Date, notification of eligibility is in Jan.

Score.

We don’t doubt that you have been nominated for some kind of Presidential scholarship (there are many), and yes, you can list it on your applications.

Note: to state that you were nominated for the US Presidential Scholars Program may raise some red flags with schools as they know when these nominations are sent out each year.

Okay, thanks @entomom

When I came home and searched it up, it did confuse me when I saw that schools cannot nominate students. However, my guidance counselor is new and it may have been a different scholarship she was talking about.
