<p>wis75 -- Let's agree to disagree. I actually think the Marquette campus is quite nice -- much nicer than I expected. Walking downtown or to the Bradley Center is fine. Students definitely have to be cautious to the north and west.</p>
<p>Madison is a GREAT college town, no doubt. Milwaukee, however, is a great and beautiful city with immense cultural, economic, social, recreational, entertainment, dining and shopping amenities that a city the size of Madison simply cannot offer. And urban problems, too, of course. But put it all together and it makes Milwaukee a fascinating and vibrant city, and a great evening or weekend destination from Madison.</p>
<p>But back to the original topic, the original poster should have no concern about the "fun quotient" at the UW as opposed to the UDub. As a friend and fellow alum in Chicago has said about the Badger diaspora, "we the exiles spend most of our waking days plotting our return."</p>
