So, uh, does this mean I didn't get into NASS?

So I've been checking my mail every day, looking for that Navy emblem, all to no joy. I'm very worried! I don't know why they wouldn't accept me, I participate in CAP, Boy Scouts, Student Council, Volunteer at Red Cross, 4 year Varsity athlete in two sports, 640 for SAT math, and captain of a couple clubs...what's up guys? Give me some reasurance here...if I can't get into NASS, how am I supposed to get into USNA??? Thanks for the help!

-David

Chill, bro.

no way, you did not just reply to my post 1 minute after I posted....no way! thanks

Remember that the majority of letters are sent out in April. Just relax until then. From what you said, I can think of no reason why they would not accept you.

It takes USNA longer to notify people on NASS than the other Summer Seminars. For example, I was accepted to USMA SLS beginning of January, but not to NASS until a week ago, even though I applied about the same distance before in both cases (about a week after applications became available).

Don't worry, it'll happen. Best of luck!

Archie's right...just let it ride and let whatever happens only make your desire for USNA stronger. If you don't get into NASS, it's not a death sentence for your admissions. Not all Mids went to NASS. Cool it, organize your stuff, stay FOCUSED in school because 6th and 7th semesters are the most important in high school and get ready to prepare a stellar admissions packet. It's cool. (this goes for all you 2011 kids).

My acceptance letter was dated 12 April so you are more than fine

There's still time, but remember how many qualified candidates may be in your region, that may affect you? I'm one to talk, I was freaking out until I got mine last week, but until you get that skinny envelope, there's still a good chance.

Please, just remember that NASS has only so many slots and many applicants.
If for some reason you are not picked up for NASS it by no means indicates that you are not competitive for USNA. There are many applicants currently receiving appointments who did not attend NASS.
Best of luck to you!

Keep in mind that many of those that go to NASS will end up not going to the Academy for either (1) personal reasons or (2) medical reasons. Just because you don't get into NASS doesn't mean that you won't receive an appointment.

Yeah Dash...

Where the heck are you from? Might suggest why the long wait...

I believe that approximately 40 percent of NASS participants two years ago ended up taking the oath on I-day the following summer. Geographic diversity is also a factor in the selection process for Summer Seminar.

sandiegodude....you got your acceptance for NASS on 12 April last year?

...12 APR 05...

That's a day that will live in infamy...the day USNA denied me admission...

coincidentally also the same day my HS track career ended when I was tripped by a cheater who cut in early...grr...but that's another matter...

ok, thanks for the support guys, I'll just sit tight. By the way, I'm from Michigan. That's too bad DMeix, were you hurt from the incident? ... what event may I ask? let me guess, 4x4.

Probably 4x4 or maybe the 800? I run 800 or 4x800 sometimes, though the 4x800 is not a commonly held event. Kinda boring actually.

The 4x800 is only boring if it is slow. My school just won the 4x800 national championship, I was not on it, in indoor track. It is one of the best events to watch indoor.

agreed, my 4x8 team one states last year in outdoor (michigan) I was first leg w/ a 1:57 and some change, and the team finished with a 7:56.99. Great day. I love track. How is everyone's season going?

Um...disappointing. I got a stress fracture barely into cross country and I didnt get fully better till the end of indoor, so I went from running 2:05 800s to god knows how slow. I'm just trying to get back in shape now. Then I got hit with a discus in the knee. Worried the **** out of me for a few days, but turned out to be just a bruised tendon, or maybe it was a contusion, don't remember what the trainer said. But yeah, disappointing senior year for track, but I'll be ready for running in the summer.

And yeah, track is amazing, almost like steak, pizza, and doughnuts all together...well maybe not that good, but it is my life.

yea dude u should really chill...u prolly got in...its competitive and if u are very well rounded you'll git in and i will assure u that you will have a blast

What is all this talk about track? Tennis all the way!
Really, cross country/track are both great sports. I did CC in the fall and play tennis in the spring, but I would have run track if not for tennis season. "Real athletes run. The rest just play games." Sweet.
