I'm not entirely sure whether this is a good sign, or whether it's just a general thing for all engineering-types...

So, thoughts?

So, thoughts?

My D got one. she"s not engineering but science ... I think the email made it pretty clear it had nothing to do with admission.

Yeah, I got it too. Might as well go to it :-)

It says specifically that it has no relationship to the admissions office. I think it's just an e-mail that they send if you apply for a Math, Science, or an Engineering major (for ex. College of Engineering).

Hmmm, I got one today but I applied undeclared.

I retract my statement. :)

Yeah I got it but there seems to be no information on the location of the event(s)?

My daughter got one and was surprised since she put pre-business--she thought maybe the coalition thought pre-business was math...
Is anyone going to this session?

I think we are going. My D says she doesn't even want to think of going to UCB ( sounds too intense to her), but I want her to at least have a look. and she granted us that.

My daughter thinks Berkeley is too close, but if she gets in...

Is it that one when we visit the workshop and they let us signt he paper and send us some mail?

THE FOLLOWING WAS POSTED ON ANOTHER THREAD YESTERDAY:
My son received an email inviting him to attend an informative session on Berkeley's math, science & engineering departments. Although they firmly state that they have NOTHING to do with the admssions department , I question why they would selectively send out these invites. Only a few kids in my sons physics class also received this letter and many did not. He also has a friend who is now a freshman at Berkeley and said that everyone he knows who received that letter last year got accepted and those who didn't receive this letter got rejected. Obviously we are going to go to the session but does anyone have any thoughts or comments on the validity of this letter and what it means? Thanks!

Any thoughts from others???

I didn't get it and I applied as a science major.

(the point: they're not sending them out to all applicants; only selected ones)

Anybody know how the program looks? We have tickets for Alvin Ailey Dance the some afternoon (at Berkeley) and would like to catch at least part of the presentation. I know what my D will choose if she has to.

I applied for science and didn't recieve one.. But I'm out of state.

I went to it.. there were lik 200-300 kids there lol. 50% of the parents were taking notes. They gave us free food and drinks and split us up by fields and talked to us. 25% of the kids were in suits. Pretty legit.... uhh i almost fell asleep personally haha

About how early did they split up the groups? (We can only stay for an hour or so).

@ OoPurestOo:
what were the other 75% wearing?

To OoPurestOo,
so they did not talk about admissions? They did not announce that you all are admitted right?

Hey,
I applied to EECS/CSE but I did not get the letter. Does this basically mean no hope of getting in?
