So UMich is one of the absolute best?

Is UMICH that much better than MSU? Should I go there even if MSU offers me much more money?

If you can, try to go to Michigan.

If you are left with Michigan and Michigan State and money is a huge concern, then go to Michigan State.

If you don't get into Michigan, then go to Michigan State.

If you don't get into either college, then look for another college.

Yes, Michigan is far more prestigious

But, if money is a big concern.... then i would research further

What are you planning on studying?.... how do the programs compare

In the end... you will be the one having to spend everyday at this campus.... so make it count

Well, I'm thinking about going into either: Nutritional Sciences, Illustration, or Computer Science. Actually, I've been thinking about being a History major too(I've been told that UMich is big on history). MSU is pretty damn good for Nutritional Sciences, correct?

I'll get ripped for saying this, but the education at MSU is the same that is at UMich. However, UMich is a more respected university, so keep that in mind.

well... one of the major drawbacks to a MSU education is the intellectual capacity of your peers. I strongly feel that much of one's education is derived from discourse and the exchange of ideas among peers/classmates. While there are certainly very intelligent and capable students at MSU, especially at the upper echelons of their classes, they are fewer in number than at UMich. In addition, UMich has a much more diverse student body, and by diverse, I mean not just race, but more out of state students, more international students, etc.

UMich also has more research opportunities and such for their undergraduates.

Mind you, I don't mean to rag on MSU because I have alot of respect for it as an institution... if it were in another state, it would be the flagship... but unfortunately it's always in the shadow of UMich when discussing Michigan's publics

maybe... but this: "well... one of the major drawbacks to a MSU education is the intellectual capacity of your peers." is very important

"if it were in another state, it would be the flagship... "
ehh.. msu is the worst academic school in the big 10. it also got first place in the collegehumor.com rankings (<a href="http://www.collegehumor.com/rankings/%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegehumor.com/rankings/</a>) which basically rates "worst schools ever"

michigan is much better than michigan state.

That doesn't inspire much confidence...then again, I sort of like to party.
