So Wake Forest likes hardworking kids?

I wasn't really a 'hardworking kid' in high school.

My sub 3.20 weighted GPA does the talking.

I already made a thread like this, I know, but I'm just wondering whether a low GPA like mine means my application will essentially automically get thrown out?

Class rank is equally, if not more, important. According to Wake's common data set, 91% of matriculants were in the top two deciles (top 20%) of their HS class. If your gpa puts you below that....

And the people who did have class ranks below 20% are necessarily athletes, strong legacies, etc.....:(

Well, ok.

I've noticed you had a thread similar to this. Okay, lets be serious, Wake Forest is a Top-30 National University, it's not Po-Dunk University. It's not easy to get in. Unless you have a wonderful reason why you have such a low GPA, for example, having to support your family, it would be hard to near-impossible to be accepted with that low of a GPA. I know I sound harsh, but it's the truth, and you need to face reality. Wake Forest is known for its rigor for a reason, a 3.20 WEIGHTED GPA does not show that you are ready for the workload that Wake Forest expects.

I don't know if they would automatically "throw out" your application; but you must have a convincing application for them to seriously consider you. Either way, I hope the best of luck for you where ever you end up.

10% of Wake Forest Students are Athletes on scholarship. Once you take away Athletes, URM's, Legacies, etc. So yes, unless you had some cirucumstances that prevented you from dedicating yourself to your school work you will have an uphill battle. I was very, very concerned about my grades and they were probably on the more iffy end, but I was solidly top 20% and had a near perfect GPA Junior and Senior years while taking as many APs as I could.

And I echo what rockerguysasj says about the work load. Frankly, if you weren't willing to work in high school, you would be in for a rude awakening when you got to Wake. Regardless, if you really want to go to Wake Forest, work hard and try to explain yourself (if you can). Best of luck.

Ah, well thanks for the advice guys.

I was rejected by Lafayette College early decision. The fact that I got rejected EARLY DECISION from a less selective school essentially guarantees I'll get rejected from Wake.

It's fine though, I guess.
