So weird situation

Okay so I had put myself on a waitlist for a class at a different college one night wayyy back my freshmen year. I got into the class I guess but I never paid and never signed on (it was an online class). The school is 3 hours away (Santa Monica College)

Well Iv been freaking out because they say you will owe the fees no matter what, and they dont refund you. Well now I cant see my records since I have a hold.

Do you guys think there is any chance I got a letter grade? I NEVER paid and never even signed on. It automatically put me from the waitlist into the class. I had completely forgot I ever put myself on that waitlist. Nothing for me to do now but wait till tommorow to call but what do you guys think? Any chance I somehow got a letter grade?

It’s possible, but you’d to have a real jerk of a professor to give you an FW or whatever rather than dropping you.

Instructors are “supposed” to drop no-shows, or in your case people that never even sign in for the online class, by a certain date (at least at De Anza…)
Please check with the instructor; contact him or her about this!

Yeah, emphasis on “supposed” to. I’ve had professors who flat out say the first day of class “If you don’t drop this class, prepare to get an FW. It’s not my responsibility to drop you.”

True, but I never even PAID for it. How can I get credit for a class I never paid for?

You should have been automatically dropped for not paying, but none of us can give you an answer. Gotta wait until you speak to the school tomorrow.

If it was a waitlist class I imagine you were bumped off.

You should be able to see your non-official transcript online. Also, yes it’s possible to be enrolled in a class, dropped after the refund date, therefor still owing the $$ without a F,W. My rommmate dropped after the refund date and has no record of the class, but owes $$. I recommend u add SMC to your FAFSA or submit it for 2010 and they should waive the fees owed.

As a SMC student, I can say that most of the professors at SMC drop students if they don’t appear for first two class meetings. But check your unofficial transcript online! Go to www.smc.edu.
