in exactly one week and one day we will be posting our decisions in the SCEA pledge results thread ://

That is really scary…

whoaaaaaaa khachaturian, u finished all ur apps? hey how many did u actually do? i hate people like u hehe jk

does anyone know the exact date yale lets its applicants know (EA)??

15th…there are numerous threads discussing this.

@khachaturian - I’m so jealous. I’ve only finished 4 (including Yale), meaning I have 4-6 more to do… :(

I had 10 apps in all (applied to 7 colleges and 3 music schools.) Most of my apps were due by December 1st actually, because that’s when most music schools want them in so that they have time to schedule auditions. Even for the schools that weren’t due by the 1st, I just made that my universal deadline so that I could focus on scholarships December and January.
Ironically, even though Yale doesn’t have an undergraduate music performance degree, it has some of the best music offerings of all the school’s I’m applying to (including some of the conservatories) and it offers the most flexibility, so I’m really hoping I get it…

Wow I love all the brave people on here =D

I think if I don’t hear the music I will just close the window and compose myself to read the letter later? Or I might end up just being too curious not to read it.

I haven’t even BEGUN the others apps … but they are more or less the same right?

^That really depends on where you are applying - supplements are probably the most painful/annoying thing in existence.

yep yep yep
some supplements r a pain in the asssss
right now i even have to write some additional essays
damn it

khachaturian, music school? really? what musical instrument do u do?
i do the piano but i don’t think there’s any way that i can actually major in it hehe

Yeah, still a few more supplements for me to do. Hopefully Yale accepts me so I don’t have to finish them and waste application fee.

I play the violin. Music school apps were a pain, because they had crazy early deadlines. Plus, some schools required you to mail in audition tapes for prescreening before you can get your audition date, which is sometime in January/February…Needless to say, I’m just glad that’s all over. If I get Yale, I’ll probably cancel most of my auditions (probably only keeping Eastman School at U of R and maybe Bienen School of Music at Northwestern).
How long have you been playing piano?

To everyone applying to more schools, have you sent your SAT score reports already, or are you going to send them only if you don’t get Yale? I was just wondering about the timing, since some places have Jan 1 deadlines.

i’ve been playing for 10 years… my parents used to want me to go pro but ummm i just can’t see it hehe i don’t see how i can be a music major.
but i did train as a pro hehe
i sent my SAT scores to some schools not all of themmm…dec 15 to jan1, that’s 2 weeks. ur scores can get there by jan 1st

^ I doubt it. Collegeboard (esp. around deadline) can be sooo slow. I sent my scores on NOV-25 and still the colleges say “not received yet”. Well, maybe some time for processing.

Khachaturian - The SAT scores don’t HAVE to be in by January 1st, only the apps do. Personally, depending on how many schools you’re applying to, I think it might be best to just wait to here from Yale next week and send your SAT scores then. That way, you don’t have to pay to have your scores sent to schools you won’t apply to, should you get into Yale.

To those who have already finished all their apps, CONGRATS!! And to everyone, GOOD LUCK!!!

I sent in my scores to those colleges two months ago, just in case if I ever need them and I don’t want to rush.

@Khachaturian:

I’m applying to Eastman at U of R also. My top choices (should I get into all 3!) are Eastman/UofR, Oberlin, and Yale.

^ OMG I also applied to Oberlin! It is fantastic!
BTW two days ago the colleges got my scores.
