So what are my chances, eh?

<p>I'm American and at the end of my Junior year. </p>

<p>The last time I saw my class rank was before junior year even started, and that was 98/250 or so with an unweighted GPA of about 3.3? In the top fifth, but not necessarily in great grounds. I know Mcgill tends to look more at your grades rather than your extracurriculars, but those aren't very special anyway. Just a year in French Club and being one of the top recyclers for an environmental group in our school.</p>

<p>AP's by the time I graduate would be:
AP English Language & Composition
AP US History
AP European History
AP Macroeconomics
AP French
AP Calculus AB
AP English Literature </p>

<p>I take my SAT two weeks from now, but my PSAT score was 1900, so I estimate that it will be a hundred or two points higher than that since I've been studying throughout the year. </p>

<p>Next year I'll also be taking Spanish 4 Honors and perhaps Latin 3 Honors -- I'm not sure if they'll be offering an honors class yet. If not, then just Latin 3. I'm hoping maybe taking three languages would seem impressive (they only offer three, though xD I would take more if they offered any others!). </p>

<p>I'll be applying for the East Asian Studies major, concentrating in Chinese/Mandarin. And maybe a double major in Linguistics or Business. </p>

<p>I speak french pretty well, but I'm not fluent yet. I also have pretty great writing skills, but since I heard that they really only look at grades then I'm not sure if an essay will be even taken into an account. Or recommendations, for that matter. </p>

<p>I know my GPA and class rank is less than impressive and that McGill is a pretty top-notch Quebec school, but is there any chance that I'll be accepted?</p>

<p>As I recall McGill doesn’t have a section in their application for extracurriculars or even for a personal statement.</p>

<p>Really, McGill only looks at GPA, SAT/ACT results and maybe a recommendation or two. Good luck with the rest of your junior year and work on your grades and especially your standardized tests.</p>

<p>McGill’s average accepted student’s Canadian GPA is over 90% which would converts to an A+ in Ontario.</p>

<p>For Americans, I think the grade requirements aren’t as high. I got into Management with a 3.75 GPA UW, and a 4.13 GPA first semester senior year. As of right now, I couldn’t tell you if you were likely to get in without your SAT/ACT results.</p>
