I just found this amazing forum! I will be a High School Senior and am looking for some honest opinions regarding my chances at:

Northwestern University
University of Illinois (Urbana)
DePaul University
Fordham University
Georgetown University (legacy!)
Yale University (what the hell!)

Gender/Race: Male/Caucasian High School: Public school, sends a few grads to top schools Class Rank: 20/638 top 3% ACT: 31 Cumulative GPA: 4.55/5.30 (translates to 3.4/4.0?)

All classes were honors or AP with a full schedule of AP's senior year. AP Test Scores
Microeconomics - 3
US Govt. - 4
US History - 5

Extracurriculars
-Tennis (4 years)
-Debate (4 years) (Captain) (All-State)
-National Honor Society (Treasurer)
-Investment Club (Founder)

I would like to major in economics and have considerable experience trading stocks (don't know how to let the college know this though...). I would be willing to apply ED to Northwestern. Thanks.

you're my competition for Fordham? damn. sorry, I don't really know much about Northwestern, but I'd say it's pretty much a crapshoot. Go for it.

If it really is 3.4UW/4.0W, then NorthWestern doesn't look too good. ACT is low for that school as well. EC's don't stand out, although your essay topic is nice. You still can apply if you want, but the best way to increase your chances is to get a higher ACT. If you can shoot for a 33, then I'd say you'd be competitive. Yale is...yeah, I doubt it.
