So I'm applying to UNC-ch, uva, vanderbilt, emory, u miami, wake forest, u richmond, and furman. I have safeties but let's not talk about those. Here's my story. HS GPA 3.0, not many EC's, generally non-awesome performance at a very competitive high school. Strong SAT's (770/690/690 (2150))Then I went to Muhlenberg college, busted the 4.0 first semester, then screwed up big time. 1.6 (including two fails out of 5 classes) 2nd semester, 2.4 (one D) 3rd semester. Then I took a semester off, worked a lot, volunteered at head start and teaching english to a group of 3 immigrants every week. Went back to school, got a 4.0, became really tight with two professors who are now going to write awesome recommendations, and am hoping to transfer to the aforementioned colleges as a junior. My essay is strong and focuses on the death of my best friend (it's been a ****ty year) and subsequent turnaround, but does not make excuses.

What do you hombres think?
