So, what do you do when the power goes out?

Random thread, I know. But our power went out earlier today. So, I ask you: what do you do when your power goes out?

Today I played Monopoly with my mom and brother.

Probably go insane.

Our power was out periodically a few weeks ago bc of fires. I flashlighted it up and read. It was really sad how much I wanted to check the internet though.

Honestly, I have no idea what I'd do at home without the internet. It's sad, I know, but totally true. I probably would go insane.

I LOVE when the power goes out! It actually was out all day a few days ago for me and I also played Monopoly :] Although it was disappointing when I got up to play piano and there were no lights... and I had to suffer with a few flashlights propped up and candles lol.

Luckily, it was light for most of the period when our power was out tonight. When it started to get dark, though, I read with a flashlight.

I hate our power company. They originally told us it would be back up at 7. It came back at 11:30.

Sleep. But then I do that frequently regardless of whether the power goes off or not, so...

... remain on the laptop doing things that don't require Internet.

That's rather rare here, but the last time it happened, I turned off all my servers since it didn't seem like it was coming back online any time soon, and then set up my router and modem to run off of the UPS's. I turned on my laptop and I sat there and continued to surf the internet while the power was out :-)

i would die lol

Read Shakespeare by candlelight.

I don't know. Go outside and swim depending on the time. Or I'd read or write.

Go to sleep early. If it's still bright, read a book.

teenage_cliche, you would think of that. You might, like, accidently set the book on... Ohhhh... I get it.

Oh that would be bad...
Really bad.

It's over 100 degrees out right now (according to my car), with a lot of humidity. No AC would suck.
I might go in the pool, or drive somewhere that had ac.

Stare at the ceiling, read if it's not dark, think about Antarctica. I didn't have power for 2 whole weeks after hurricane Wilma. It was ridiculous. I got to charge up stuff at my mom's job so I had music, but I was bored out of my mind for days. Eventually I started writing stupid poems and drawing and coloring. That was fun. We made lots of excuses to go out and drive around just so we could have AC and charge up cell phones (after the towers started working again).

One cool thing about the power going out is that you get to eat all the ice cream and cookie dough in the fridge!

BrightRed: There is no pyromania involved; I'd just use the opportunity to be a romantic.

Play with fire. :]

There was a blackout in NYC four summers ago, and I believe most of NYC was out of power. It was pretty darn hot for 2-3 days. I just went out to the park and tried to survive in the heat.

I raid the fridge, on the grounds that the food might spoil.

Hmm, I just read Alas Babylon and this really reminds me of it.

Actually we had the power go off for an evening a couple of weeks ago. It was like 8, so I just went to sleep. Although apparently a lot of the light switches were in the "on" position so at around 1 AM all these lights in my house went on.
