Topic. Do you think APUSH is going to be easier or harder? And do you think that it is effective enough for us going into college?

I’ll be taking it next year, but I don’t know anything about the new curriculum. @samuraiman26 Do you have any info on how it compares to the current curriculum?

Well from my current knowledge they are providing a more specific standards of what should be covered rather than leaving it ambiguous for teachers. I also am going to assume that this means less useless memorization and applying concepts.

Also the test is changing. I think there are 4 parts

I. 36 Multiple Choice (less questions than current 80ish)
II. Short Answer (4 questions)
III.DBQ
IV. Long essay

I am taking APUSH next year too so I am not sure how it will be. At my school APUSH is just pure memorization from what I heard but the new changes could make it easier or harder. Which is why I am asking :)

55 questions, not 36. Other than that, right.

Doesn’t sound that much harder, if any. Sounds like it’s going to be a bit more like the AP World exam. In which case, good luck kids. ;)

I hope it is easier. After all I sort of don’t see the points in just memorizing facts if you can’t apply it. I like a mixture of memorizing and then applying than just remember obscure things that won’t matter.

They’re changing the curriculum??? Glad I’m taking it this year then. College Board really wanted a makeover this year, with those new AP classes and the new SAT and stuff.

That is the one thing I am nervous about is being in the “test group” of students where the teachers aren’t going to know from experience what the exam is like or no practice questions from previous years to view online for the short answer. Same with AP Physics next year and AP World this year (for most who take are sophomores) so the class of 2016 is getting it the most :/

With the SAT I am def taking it junior year before the changes happen.

@samuraiman26 nice username

Lol thanks :p

@samuraiman26 yeah lucky for us the new SAT I doesn’t come into effect until the class of 2017 has taken the new PSAT, so we’re the last class ever to take the current 2400 SAT I! I wonder if they’ll need to have the experimental section for when we take the test, since they won’t really need to be testing out new questions since after us the test is done for (sorry for going off the topic of this post)?

Or if any members of the class of 2017 decide to take the current/old version of the SAT I in the fall of what will be their junior year and our senior year.

Oh no I don’t consider it off -topic too much. We are talking about curriculum changes so …

Yeah I have a feeling we might get experimented on…
