For freshmen, after you check in, you have a few days before classes start. Is there any programs UCLA has for these new freshmen or do they just roam around la freely until classes start?

there are lots of welcome-week activities catered to freshmen. Each floor has community-building activities, RAs will probably give you the grand tour of dorms and campus, and have other fun things planned.

We had a scavenger hunt at 12 AM and my group got completely lost on campus :D

Then there's Bruin Bash--concert and dance. Last year TI was the headline artist.

Of course, you can ignore all of that fun and roam around...or you can check in the day before class starts and stay home :(

In short, don't worry about being bored or having nothing to do. There are plenty of opportunities to meet new people and explore. Well..pretty everyone is new.

ANOTHER one? do we get free UCLA sweatshirts if we win just like at orientation? :D

Can a bandie tell me if band camp will interfere with partaking in welcome week activities?

What happens to those of us that got raped by being in the university apartments? Any fun plans? I really wish i was in the suites/plazas :(

haha 0 week is sick take advantage of it because if you don't you will be wishing you did when it's finals week and you want to die

we're moving in on the 19-21. so if the quarter starts on the 25th, do we start classes that thursday, or start the following monday/week

I am pretty sure that Thursday

That's good then. The only thing I have on Thursdays is my chem 20a discussion. Wonder what we'll be doing

^ Yeah, my first class on Thursday is a discussion session too.

yes! both my classes on thursday are discussions...WIN!

my only class thursday is a Fiat Lux :D

so if we only have discussions on the first day of school, do we have to attend? if yes, what are we going to do or talk about?

i suggest you e-mail the TA on it. some classes do want you to attend the discussion on the first day, some do not. you can find the name of your TA on the study list (myUCLA) and if the e-mail isn't listed on the class website, just check the department website.
