Is it going to be a some mind boggling or is just going to be an ordinary envelope with "CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ACCEPTANCE...". Also do they mail you a free sweatshirt/hoodie or t-shirt or anything of that sort. Thanks...Greatly appreciated.

from what I have read around on threads its something quite different. Like a big fat envelope that actually says something around "The Big Fat Envelope" on it.

A free hood would be awesome.

lmfao wouldn't it be funny if they make some type of sad face on the outside + a big"sorry",yet inside its an acceptance letter.haha. or vice versa =p

i think you're confusing funny with terrifying.

lol. That'll be so evil

^ I'd probably burn the envelope without even looking inside. :(

ldjfsdf a free hoodie would be amazing. Do other schools mail free stuff to you with acceptances?

& to answer the original question, I think it comes in either a large envelope that contains the acceptance letter along with forms you have to fill out if you decide to attend, and things like that. That's what my friend's sister's Harvard and MIT acceptances were like. Carnegie ~ Ivy League? It might be a UPS package too. I'm scared. ;____;

it'd be funny if they sent the :( face with an acceptance, but very mean if it was the other way around.

The acceptance letter is a VERY big envelope with "This is the official FAT letter" on the front and it's full of brochures. I received a rejection letter (ha...) that was small with one piece of paper.

I vaguely remember, from the info session I went to back in September, that one of the admissions officers (whoever it was leading the info session) said the acceptance LETTER actually says "I'm sorry, but... you got in!" or something.

Acceptance came in large manila envelop...you will not mistake it for anything else! :)

Just wondering, do they send you an email to notify you of your results? I'm an international, and the letter will take WEEKS to arrive :/

arekanderina- They'll post your decision online 3 days after they mail the letter.

My son's letter said "Big Fat Envelope" in tartan letters. It was cute. (And Mom didn't have to hold anything up to the light.) It came with most of the forms and a big view book, and info about accepted students weekend and things like that.

~

i think you're confusing funny with terrifying.

~

BAHAHAHA. I hope they don't deceive us in such a terrible way...

It was a large fat white envelope that says "THIS IS THE OFFICIAL FAT LETTER" (FAT in huge letters across the envelope) mailed via USPS Priority Mail. Inside there was a large "Carnegie Mellon Office of Admission" book. An admission letter and a Mastercard/Visa Payment Form were inserted on the backside of this book. The front side cover says "THE OFFICIAL CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY FAT LETTER" (again FAT in huge letters in black) and three Irish male dancers on top of the cover. Inside this book contains four tabbed sections (APRIL VISIT, CAMPUS LIFE, PITTSBURGH, and ENROLLMENT INFO). Inside the ENROLLMENT INFO tab, there were 4 pages of information (undergraduate academic calendar, orientation, health insurance, and alumni reflection). Inside PITTSBURGH tab, there was a small booklet on "The Pittsburgh Scene".

Ah jjsdad, you're making me really psyched to get this package (hopefully)!! So since they're starting to mail the "letters" this Friday, we could be getting them as early as this Saturday (the 21st)! I live in Pennsylvania, so maybe I will get them on Saturday! Ah! So nervous and excited~!

It still takes 3 days if you live in PA.

Pittsburgh > Harrisburg (stays there overnight) > Your postal office (stays there overnight) > Your House.

I live in PA and it actually took 4 days to get my ED letter from the day they were sent out.

Count on Tuesday.

I live in Arizona, so no hope of getting a letter in any reasonable amount of time. Do the decisions for the first wave go online during the day on monday or at midnight (sunday night/monday morning)?

3 days after being mailed.
