Its sent USPS Priority because priority is supposed to be 3 days to anywhere in the continental US.

So from when your FAT is mailed (whether you're an ED admit who only gets the forms without the letter or an RD who gets both in the same envelope) it should be 3 days later that it gets to your house if you're domestic.

The decision date was March 24, 2008 (Monday) last year, and my D received the FAT envelope on March 28, 2008 (Friday). We are in upstate NY. The on-line decision was made available a day or two earlier (I believe it was on March 27, 2008).

The decision day is March 20 (Friday) this year. Most of you would get your letter either on Monday 3/23 or on Tuesday 3/24 if the letters are mailed out on 3/20. They say that they mail the letters out in waves, but I would guess by Monday 3/23 the on-line decision would be available.

I think its time to revive this thread. For those accepted, what did the package look like and what was inside? Was anyone denied admission in the first wave of release? If so, what was that letter like? Thanks.

package is a large envelope with a USPS sticker on the front. Inside is a big FAT view book or whatever and pictures. Attached to it is the acceptance letter.

The package was pretty awesome. I leaped for joy when I saw a massive package appear in my mailbox (even though I already knew about my acceptance). It says something like "Yes, this is the fat letter," and is really colorful. Also, on the inside, it had three people in kilts, which kind of creeped me out.

We are in Texas and didn't get an envelope in the mail today. Anybody else in Texas? Does anyone know if they mention any scholarship money in the package?

Yeah, I live in PA and didn't get the letter today. But I know I'm already accepted into HSS since I checked online. I guess I'll wait until tomorrow...

Are any of the people who are saying the "big fat letter" thing from this year? Or is that all from last year? I know the ones for ED this year were TINY. I freaked out when I got mine, even though I already had seen my decision online. I had to hold it up to the light and read "congratulations" before I was brave enough to open it.

I already knew itd be tiny(ED) because I read forum posts. I looked online 3rd day after I called them (they told me they sent the stuff out that day), and to my surprise, the decision was up. I was so happy I cried. The letter came on the 4th day (in state), but mainly because I had not yet notified Carnegie Mellon of a change of a address, so it went like:

Carnegie Mellon > Harrisburg > My city> Return > Harrisburg > my city again. When I realized it got sent back, I was kind of annoyed. Needless to say, I changed my address with them promptly.
