So what is the sat ii literature?

I sort of decided to take it on a whim (I got 800 on math II last year, took ap physics b this year and am taking the sat ii physics this june w/ lit which I feel pretty prepared for after the ap and im considering taking chem next year after the ap just for another thing to look good) in order to have a humanities one in case its needed...which I'm told it's not by most places. However, it seems to me that it's basically reading comprehension/poetry analysis (aka...english class quizzes) and it was only 9 bucks so how hard is it to get an 800? Is there any curve? I'm not planning on buying a book or anything/seriously studying considering I'm pretty sure I know all the literary terms (well...maybe not the obscure ones but screw it).

It’s actually one of the hardest subject tests. The poems are often from the 18th, 17th, or even 16th centuries and can be very difficult to understand.

I agree; it is quite difficult (and has a tough curve).

I don’t know if I had a weird test, but there was not one question on literary terms when I took it in May. I used Kaplan and did very well, but I don’t know how much of that was from the book. I don’t think it necessarily taught me anything I didn’t already learn from years of being a reader.

The poems were nasty to get through. Some of them were nearly impossible to interpret.

Well, for most us of normal people it’s one of the hardest subject tests, but since you got a 800 on math 2 you won’t have any problems… it will be just like one of your english quizzes.

Do people really have a lot of problems on the 17th, 18th century poems? I’d say they ought to put more contemporary stuff in there :P

SAT II Literature is pretty difficult, I would say. It is comparable to the AP Literature and Composition multiple choice questions, and you need to have a strong base in critical reading, as well as knowledge of some literary devices. SAT II lit is not one of those tests that can be done without large amounts of studying…I took an AP Literature class this year, am an avid reader since I was young, and still struggled to get above a 700 on this exam.
