So, what kind of EC's are YOU putting on the common app?

Just an innocuous question. I want to see what other people have as their EC's. Personally, I have about 1 EC that I spend about 10-20 hours a week doing. How about you guys?

Golf
Volunteering
Newspaper
Model UN
Orchestra
Singing
Musicals/Plays

Leadership positions in all of the above (captain, editor-in-chief, secretary-general, soloist, etc).

Not that great but:

Ethiopian Orthodox youth group ( founder)~ 8ish hours a week,during summer 20ish
Acdec(10,11,12)~ 2 hours a day.
Beta(9,10,11(Secretary),12)~2 hours a week
NHS(11,12)~1 hour a week
Mu Alpha Theta(11,12)~2 hours a week
UIL(11,12), First year I made regional but was destroyed then.

Oh, and mine are all 9,10,11,12.

Wow helpwithschools, how many hours a week do you spend doing that stuff?

Yearbook (2nd year Ed-In-Chief) (10, 11, 12)
Drama (2nd year Pres) (9, 10, 11, 12)
Working at a Daycare (11, 12)
Silver Knights Project (started school’s organic vegetable garden) (12)
Student Council (Treasurer) (10, 11, 12)
Newspaper (Opinions Editor) (12)

Do you think that it looks good to fill in all the EC spaces? I was only planning on putting my 7 main ECs (I had originally thought that the common app only had 7 spaces). Should I fill in the remaining spots with clubs I wasn’t super involved with and ones that I only did for 2 years? Personally, I don’t want to do it because I think it makes it looks cluttered and detracts from my more important ones. What do you guys think? Is 7 enough?

I think you should just list the ones you most enjoyed that will show who you are. Resume padding isn’t really necessary, in my opinion.

Enough that I still live an amazing social life and maintain top 1 in my class.
