What made you choose to go to Penn? What would you say is the best thing about it? The worst thing?

The worse thing is the stuck up kids; not diverse enough (too many white, wealthy kids); too much of a bureacracy at Penn.
Best thing..I won't be there

For once, I agree with dulce on the best thing.

Penn admissions - politics at its best

One of the worst things is that people don't do your essay research for you.

someone needs to ban dulce from this board...ive heard of civil dissent...but he goes out of his way to spew negativity about Penn which isn't even necessarily (comparatively) true based solely on his rejection. Read the parable about the fox and the grapes he couldn't reach and so called sour...dulce is the main character

I chose to go to penn after my ED acceptance. The best parts are its strenght in all subjects i am interested in, research oppertunities, ability to apply for the law school after 3 years, and ablility to minor in engineering and business, which all help me as an undecided person. The negatives would be location in Philly. As an Ivy/top private college, it will have lots of rich stuckup white kids, but I plan to be rich, so might as well get used to those types of people.

Um dulce de leche, aren't you the one who said that you probably had no chance, since some other top legacies/URMs/valedictorian at your school was applying? And your GPA was pretty low too...

And I thought Penn was your dream school.

sorry to burst your bubble, but I sent in my app a week ago :]

and is there anyone who's an alumnus/student there right now? I've heard that walking into Penn is like "leaving the Muggle world behind" XD

what's up with this dulce person, anyway...

"I plan to hit the Penn book store and buy an entire wardrobe of Penn shirts and pants!"--12-9-06, What are your plans for 12/15 if you're accepted?

"I want to buy the "Puck Frinceton" shirt because I HATE Princeton. I don't think they sell it in the bookstore. Anyone know where I can get it?"--12-7-06, Penn Gear

"I want to buy the "PUCK FENN" SHIRT that PRinceton Univ. sells. Can I buy it online and have it shipped?

Damn. Looks like all of this is going into my essays then. :]

^ hahaha, always glad to help, I guess...

Maybe the adcoms sensed the bitter arrogance in his application. Yeah, that's it.

VE sculpture was awesome. i also liked the 24-7 prayer tent...i thought it was cute. and i also saw a guy who was sleeping in the middle of a courtward, which was pretty cool, because no one was bothering him or staring or anything :]
a lot of the little things about penn really seemed to make the difference.
oh, and i can also sub matriculate in vet school in my senior year :]

About rich, white students:

Yes, they're the majority, but that doesn't mean that the minorities aren't vocal. There's groups so specific you'd be amazed, me and my friends joke about a group called "left-handed, hoagie-eating, wharton latino women. Penn's only!"

I hang out mostly with the artsy types, where there's just boatloads of interesting people that manage to exist despite "Quad girls," as I came to call them. By the way, they're everywhere. It's America.

Penn offers opportunities I didn't even think could exist. For example, you can study in Washington, DC for a semester, taking 3 Penn classes and doing a fulltime internship for anyone from CNN to the White House.

YOu can study in DC for a semester at nearly every college in the USA..internships in DC, too.

^^^^^ Yeah theres definitely nothing special about Penn that Michigan doesnt have, since they thought i wasnt good enough for them..

Michigan has more than Penn. And the tuition will be a steal for me.

if Michigan has more than Penn then why did you apply to Penn ED??

I don't know why anyone would want to be bound ED to a school that they didn't want to go to? Oh waaaait. Dulce DID want to go to Penn. Rejection's a b.i.t.c.h. isn't it?
