so.. what meal plan should i get? which are you getting?

100 block meals per quarter w/ $75 flex dollars
120 block meals per quarter w/ $75 flex dollars
165 block meals per quarter w/ $50 flex dollars

how would my lifestyle be if i get the 100 block meals plan? will i have to make numerous runs to in & out etc.? what is my ratio of block meal/per week?

what's the food at school like? good? bad? do they give many options? name some.

what is your favorite meal? how often do they serve it and in what dining hall?

feed back from current students would be great.

thanks.

I have the same questions. I chose 100 block meals per quarter because I didn't want to get fat, LOL.

no, you chose 100 block meals per quarter because taco bell is right across the street from uci lol.

Yeah probably the 100 block meals since you have to include the times you'll eat out =D

If those are the only options, then take 100.

Based on what I found out from friends and family, it's probably wisest to get the 100 meal. People say that there's usually little time to eat because you're rushing to class. Also, for i'm taking the 100 because i'm going home on the weekends for some of mama's food ^_^

Whoa is that the new meals system they're offering to freshmen next year? That's totally different than before.

This year, our option was: 10 meals/week, 14 meals/week, or 17 meals/week

I guess they have different plan next year

what are flex dollars?

'dollars' on a lunch card or whatever. you can use at your discretion in stores/dining places etc on campus.

Yeah, it was kind of annoying that the housing contract refers you to the dining page to read about the meal plans. But when you go to that link, it describes this year's meal plans (the 10, 14, 19 per week plans) instead of next year's block plans you are supposed to be choosing among. (Get it together, UCI!! )

For a Norcal student who will live on campus 7 days/week, I thought the 14-meal plan would have been good......but it seems the new plans don't work out to a similar number of meals. The old "medium" plan of 14 meals seems more close to the new "high" plan.

The fall quarter seems to be about 79 days long, including the freshman intro week and omitting Thanksgiving break. So for 2 meals/day, that would be 79x2 = 158 meals. Maybe a few less depending on what day your last final is held. Anyone else try doing the math?

You are right. There are about 11 "meal" weeks in the fall quarter. That works out to be 15 meals per week for the 165 blocks plan. Is this good for a person staying on campus over weekends?

i chose the 19 meal/week plan b/c its only 200 more compared to the 14/week one, do u know if u can use ur flex dollars at in and out taco bell and those kind of stores?

the maximum meal plan in my opinion is going to be way too much. my cousin said that he never used all of his meal plans, but since i like to eat alot (my metabolism is hecka fast) i opted for the 120 one. all my friends are doing 120 too. just my $0.02

Some may choose 100 because they don't always wake up in time to eat a full breakfast and then rush off to morning classes.

most people I know skip breakfast, so they only use 2 meals/day

i dont get why theres a 100 w/75 and a 120 w/75... wouldnt u just go for the 120?

It would cost more, wouldn't it? >_>
