Freshman and sophomore year, I was in CP Band. The requirements for H band changed junior year, and I've been in H band ever since. Buuut... the CP grades are bringing down my GPA by .2 points.

I can change my band grades for 9th and 10th grades to pass/fail instead of letting them count as actual grades. This would raise my GPA, and make me valedictorian of my class. Buuut... would colleges find the fact that I "manipulated" my transcript disgusting? Or, would the two years of P/F band just look stupid?

Of course, it's not as if I'm switching to P/F because I did badly in Band, and I want to erase those marks. I only want to do it because the requirements changed, and (if the current requirements existed when I was a freshman) I would have been in honors band all four years. However, my band director cannot just switch me from CP to H during those two years... the only option as marking them as a "Pass" grade.

So... what do you think? My guidance counselor keeps talking about "looking as good on paper as I possibly can." Is switching to "pass/fail" grading reasonable, or just obnoxious? Because... TRUST ME. I don't care if I'm valedictorian or not. I'm just another incredibly confused senior, stressing out about applications and worrying that her transcript isn't strong enough. Blahhhh.
