So what's a good reason for a drop in GPA?!

So, I might get a 2.83 unweighted this semester, I didn't think I would cuz i thought I'd get an A in english, but turns out I got B and the rest of my grades don't balance it out. Anyway, I already spoke to an admission counselor over there and have sent them a formal letter. My grade drop is NOT because of senioritis. I dont get that. I seriously had stuff happen (being sick, suddenly grandma died).

Anyway, even though my reasons are legit and I think they're good enough to explain the gpa below the minimum 3.00... but what do u think. Are those good enough reasons? What do u think are good reasons to drop below 3.00 in the 2nd semester of sr year?

....anyone?!

yah i think that is a good reason. My grades also suddenly dropped in my ochem class due to the fact that my roomate the night before my midterm slit her wrists. I talked to a counselor because I ended up having to take a withdraw from the class... the counselor said it was a legit reason.

Attending Berkeley (the grading ain't easy)! :)

Just kidding. You'll be fine. You're "legit."

No offense, but how is that a legitimate reason for a withdrawal?

Do we have to provide them any kind of official documents? I mean I have a legit reason but am not sure if I can get the legal documents, as my parents could not get medical care.

I think it's helpful if you can get them. They might ask for them. For serious matters like these, you should ask them dirrectly.

Yeah, I told them in my letter i'd be happy to provide them w/ any official documentation ... i suppose they could want it cuz I bet a lot of kids just make stuff up. But.. uh, i just hope they accept my reasons.

Also, has anyone ever heard of Cal rescinding people?

You might just be on academic probation and not get rescinded, good luck though

What is academic probation?

I have a friend who was going to get a 2.9 and he begged one of his teachers to raise his grade from an A to a B, so that he would not get his offer rescinded and it wowrked. You may want to try begging one of your really nice teachers to give you one grade higher. Good luck

hmmm that's actually a good idea AB.

Masha, academic probation or AP is what happens once you get to Cal and your GPA slips below a 2.0 Basically theygive you a semester of probation and if u can't do better, u have to go to a community college for a semester or something and then u have to apply to get in again I think.

well its too late for that haha, i already graduated. everything's final!
