So whats everyone taking in the spring?

I had first enrollment window but all the math103's at decent times with the Hodels filled up so Im gonna be doing math at 8 in the morning which doesnt sound fun.

Whats everyone else taking?

I had the first window (I was enrolled by 7:00:40, lol) so I got all the classes I wanted.

Bio 116 Ecology and Evolution

CLAR 47 Near Eastern Archaeology (@UNC)

--Tu Th 2:00 PM-3:15 PM Murphey 104

I hate you fist window people!!!!!! I have the 3rd and, um, everything in my bookbag except lectures was full this morning. All the Math 103 sections I had...full...Bio 25L has 28 spots left so I'm giving up on that (which is kind of important!)...any seminar I would ever want is gone so I have some history stuff bookbagged.

I'm screwed.

Ja, my roommate has the 3rd window too, so he hates me. :/

Can't you take Bio 26 if 25 gets full? I think the order doesn't matter.

You also might want to check out BAA 49S, which isn't quite full yet.

Anyway, my RA said that even people with the 3rd window usually get what they want if they stay on the waitlist because people switch classes. If that fails, he said begging the prof sometimes works.

ACES kinda hates me. It wouldn't let me register for Econ 55D, even though I have credit for 2A and registered for 51D. I emailed the department and they said they'd have to manually enroll me.

So here's what I'm actually in:

ECON 51D ECONOMIC PRINCIPLES
--Lori Leachman
--Lecture: Tu Th 8:30 AM-9:45 AM Bryan Center GRIF FLM T
--Discussion: Th 4:40 PM-5:30 PM Languages 207

LATIN 2 ELEMENTARY LATIN
--Zoe Kontes
--M W F 10:20 AM-11:10 AM Allen 318

MATH 104 LINEAR ALGEBRA & APPLICATIONS
--Richard Hodel
--M W F 3:05 PM-3:55 PM Physics 205

I haven't taken math since fall senior year so that might be tough, but at least I have a good teacher. :)

PHYSED 63 CARDIO-KICKBOXING
--Jessie Bowen
--M W F 11:55 AM-12:45 PM Brodie Recreational Center 149

And assuming my manual enrollment goes according to plan...

ECON 55D INTERMEDIATE ECONOMICS I
--Christopher Timmins
--Lecture: W F 8:30 AM-9:45 AM Bryan Center GRIF FLM T
--Discussion: Tu 4:40 PM-5:30 PM Social Sciences 139

wow leejwwc you have a tough schedule for a freshman
bio 118 is harder in the spring, and chem 152 isn't going to be a walk in the park either, unless you happen to enjoy orgo or something. I think freshman integrate with upperclassmen for orgo in the spring, don't they? good luck with that

yeah Im hoping that I can handle it but if it gets too rough during the first week, i might take bio26 in lieu of 118 as I need lab credit anyways.

oh and for clarification - Orgo is NOT my friend

So, question. Is it pretty much impossible for me to get into this 1 chem recitationthat has 2 seats left? Because um, the rest of my schedule relies on it.

ohkay someone let me know one or two EASIEST and least time demanding humanity/socialsicence/art/literture/civilization class (fulfilling an engineering major's "Humanity or Social Sciences" requirement) u can ever take at duke...
i'll have a heavy workload next semester (3rd window btw) and i wanna get into something that doesnt add anymore weight on my shoulder.
reading and writing must not be a part of class!!
thankx!

Phil 48/Psy 11 is the way to go from what I've heard...

Take CLST 54 Roman History with Boatwright. She's a great professor (she wrote the textbook she uses), and she's a fairly easy grader. There are plenty of spots left in her class.

BAA 93 - INTRO BIOLOGICAL ANTHRO Credits: 1.0 Waiting # 1

01 - LEC Tu Th 1:15 PM-2:30 PM Bio Sci 111

MATH 103 - INTERMEDIATE CALCULUS Credits: 1.0 Enrolled
06 - LEC M W F 4:40 PM-5:30 PM Physics 05
Bray,Clark B.

I'm gonna go ahead and say I'm worthless compared to the rest of you...no bio 118 or orgo...lol. So I'm dissapointed I didn't get into the other chem lecture, therefore I couldn't take Math 49S (Math and Physiology), but oh well...good enough for me. I'm hoping I'll get off that bioanth waitlist...seeing that I'm #1...Not bad for 3rd window!

You're definitely not worthless, that's also a rather tough schedule. Chem 22 is a tough class, though MacPhail is reasonable, as is Math 103. Your seminar looks really interesting too. 20 minutes to get from Gross Chem to Carr on Wednesday... that will be fun.

All you freshman are so brave to be overloading to 5/5.5 classes so early, I'm impressed.

Then we'll be worthless together. :D

Me too, hehe. Obviously she didn't see how easy my schedule is (except math, maybe). I can't wait... It's leejwwc who makes us look bad.

noone's worthless lol - all the classes here seem to be really hard.

Its funny cuz I just began questioning whether I really like science or not...guess I'll find out in the spring...the hard way.

question tho, phil 48 (logic) is that an interesting/difficult class? The only section open is the one with the T.A. and Im thinking about taking that instead of chem research? Any advice/suggestions?

I haven't taken Phil 48, but I'm taking another philosophy course with Prof. Miller (he's teaching intro. philosophy next semester), and we've covered a lot of logic. It really makes your head hurt sometimes, but I think it's a great class to take because it teaches you to argue effectively and soundly in addition to giving your brain a workout.

As for difficulty...we had to try to schematize this:

</of>

Talk about a headache! It looks deceptively simple.

Of course, the grad student could teach logic a completely different way.

That's a very good point. The worst mistake you can ever make is going into a class expecting it to be easy and not giving it the proper attention; tons of people get burned that way. Some classes will turn out to be relatively easy, but go into all your classes expecting to work hard.

yeah thats confusing...

physics 61, compsci 100E, ECE 27, and Econ 51....
i feel screwed already
