thebillsfan,

Have you taken AP Stats? Notice the thread title...people who are interested in SAT scores are way more likely to click on the thread in the first place, and then there is the whole nonresponse issue. Then, you have over 3000 views, so lets be conservative and say that 800 different people viewed the thread with 45 actual SAT posts. So thats 45/800, and 800/[alot], and EACH of those fractions involve highly biased human decision making. You simply cannot state that it is even remotely accurate.

hax0r:

Good argument. I see what you're saying, HOWEVER, I think the issue is really: are those 45 actual SAT posts a good indication of the broad range of SAT scores on this board? And I think the answer is yes.

And, for the record, I have not taken AP Stats.

Do you really think there are more than 800 people on this board?

I definitely think there are more than 800 people on this board..there are probably 5-10k people on this board.

One of the mods should definitely make a poll and put it on the front page, that way we can get a much more accurate sample, anybody agree?

sounds good jsyankees

This is Response Bias.

Just wait...we're slowly picking up more scores.

Also notable....are we doing this UC style (single sitting) or composite

Older son: 2100 (680V, 720M, 700 Writing)

Younger son: 2130 (700V, 680M, 750 W)

This is the best combination method for both kids. The only score that was significantly different in the several sittings was younger son went up 70 on the writing. Others were within 10 points every time.

well, how do the colleges do it? I think they do the best score in one sitting, so let's do it that way.

if you really want to post your best composite score, that's honestly better than nothing.
