<p>WHY would they do this? So cheap? Call me a cynic, but I find it hard to believe.</p>
<p>Are they giving old books or what? Is it a scam?</p>
<p>I mean, wouldn't amazon bring its rates down to compete?</p>
<p>Is it safe with Half? Are the books new? Is it like a lucky draw or something? Or bidding?</p>
<p>I bought all my books last semester from half.com instead of amazon. The condition of the books are listed, and I have always found them to match the description. You can search by the ISBN (maybe wrong abbreviation?. The only issue I had was one of the books was a previous edition and was missing the two chapters that were added ten/fifteen years later. None of the books were trashed. I went down to acceptable books, and the worse was there was notes and writing, but not much. I am super cheap with books, and have never really had a bad experience with Half.com. eBay protects the buyer as well. </p>
<p>In short, not a scam. The books are really that cheap and are in good shape. The shipping is cheap. I bought some books for less than $5 (but I am a social science major, and the class rarely has a textbook, they are typically things like wealth of nations or court cases).</p>

<p>There will be headings under the book, such as “new,” “like new,” etc. Under the headings will be a price and a list of books.</p>
<p>It’s not that much cheaper than Amazon if you’re buying from a used seller on amazaon. half.com has cheaper shipping by about fifty cents so it’s best to just look on both sites for the book you need, then get whichever is cheaper. It’s not a scam, the site makes money through ads and sellers make money on whatever they sell. Some companys sell books for super cheap because they know it doesn’t cost 3.49 to ship so they keep a couple of those shipping dollars.</p>
<p>Half.com is a spin off site of ebay. We bought our books from the bookstore this semester, but am considering half.com for next time. I’ve used ebay a lot and never been disappointed. You just need to read the seller’s feedback score and the feedback itself. Read over the description well and ask questions if you have any before you buy.</p>
<p>Half.com is deffinitely the way to go when buying school books. Usually 60-80% cheaper</p>
<p>I just got my books from half.com for first quarter freshman year. They look SO much neater and cleaner than the bookstore books (used, but looks new!) and about half or less the price of the books on sale for USED at the university bookstore.</p>
