So what's the deal with AP Exams...do they count or not!

Does anyone know how much room there is on the Common App for AP scores? A few lines, unlimited, etc?

There is space for nine (9) AP (or IB) tests on the Common Application, and you can always mention more in an attachment.

Re AP scores-- I’ve been told that the AP score levels from a particular high school clue in adcoms to the grade inflation/deflation at that school (ie, a school that grants many A’s in APs but has students who get low scores on the AP exams will be noted, as will the reverse). It’s part of the way the adcoms contextualize your student’s GPA and judge the rigor of sending high schools.

Our S2 goes to a grade deflated HS and it is worrisome to see how many stellar students there get Bs. It wasn’t until S1 was accepted to many of his reach schools and was awarded merit scholarships at other great schools that we actually believed the above. S1’s AP scores were outstanding and I think that may have helped colleges put his good but not mind-blowing GPA into perspective.

Hope this helps some.
